ok so, theres is a knocking noise coming from (sounds like) the back left corner of my car. only heppenes when im not accelerating and gets worse if i push in the clutch. any ideas?

NewlyIMPORTed 06-02-2009 12:44 AM

you know its weird because i have a sound coming from my rear passenger panel it sounds like static though but like loud! it doesnt happen all the time and i took it to get looked at and they claimed they fixed it and its still there occasionally

CBRich 06-02-2009 11:57 AM

You still have a warranty. Let the dealership worry about it.

A TSB was made for the G37 coupe for clucking sounds coming from the rear of the car. Turned out it was the axle.

shabarivas 06-02-2009 12:23 PM

me thinks my rear axle is clunking too :(

black09Z 06-04-2009 07:21 AM

Well just to let yall know, I took my car to nissan and they said its the rear driver side wheel bearing.Warranteed!

imag 06-04-2009 09:01 AM

Wow - that's good to know. People tracking cars will have to keep an eye out.

CBRich 06-04-2009 09:17 AM

Did they have any ideas as to why it went out so quickly? Just a bad part?

black09Z 06-04-2009 03:55 PM

didnt say, ill try and ask the tech when i get it fixed

black09Z 06-07-2009 03:38 AM

ok so, i got my car back today. i got a whole new axle. the service manager said that this is not a problem to expect from all other Z's. he said that sometimes a part just goes bad nd thats what warrantys were created for

imag 06-07-2009 12:53 PM

Unless you have an oil cooler. Then the bad axle is your fault. :shakes head:

black09Z 06-08-2009 11:21 AM

um............ why?

CBRich 06-08-2009 11:59 AM

It's kind of an inside joke on Nissan's attitude toward oil coolers. Don't install one and overheat, install one and jeopardize your warranty.

I've been told that the rear differential clunking is mostly due to slow shifting (or bad shifting) or the engine giving more power through the transmission than the tranny can smoothly handle.

I am also experiencing rattling noise from the rear of the vehicle. To describe the problem, it is kind of like a rattling / buzzing / static noise coming from the right rear of the trunk area. I have made numerous attempts to the dealership to identify the problem, and it is coming from the tail light assembly. At least that is the latest I was informed, and it is being looked up to fix by the Nissan Manufacturer.

At this point, there is no fix for it yet. Will keep on checking.

I have already informed Nissan One on One Program advisor, and I have written a brief e-mail to Nissan Consumer Affair to report this problem.

somebody didnt read that part where i said that my problem was the wheel bearing going out. not the diff or the tail light

black09Z 06-24-2009 03:39 PM

so i guess its not an isolated incident per say. my friend is having the same problem i had with his G37. look out guys, this thing goes bad fast. if your rear end starts knocking get it looked at immediatly. a week after it started i couldnt even drive to the dealorship to get it fixed i had to have them toe it.

supraman626 06-27-2009 05:06 AM

rattling

drove home the Z today from the dealer and have already experience hearing the rattling sound. I am still a newbie to stick shift and died a couple times. When i got home, i notice the rattling sound from the right side. Not sure if it's from the front or back. Could i have already damage something from stalling numerous times? i notice when i am on neutral and not stepping on the clutch that sound is there, but when i depress the clutch, the sound is gone. please help?!

black09Z 06-29-2009 02:12 PM

thats the throwout bearing on your clutch. it shouldnt do that brand new and stock

alexpila 11-23-2009 12:45 PM
