Oil for track days

I am thinking to change to 10w30 since I will be tracking the car once a month thoughts?

the first # is viscosity when cold, the second, viscosity when hot. I run Mobil 1 0w 40. True synthetic, unlike their other off the shelf oils and will handle the higher oil temps better.

I wouldn't go higher than a 40 weight oil in a street car tho. If it's a track only beast, then perhaps a 50 weight.

Another good true synthetic that is easy to find is German Castrol 0w 30. Very good oil and UOAs on both the ones I mentioned seem to be very favorable.

Also Redline makes good stuff as well.

It is a DD, live in los angeles, will be tracking the car every 2 months or so. Just hit 3K miles, so want to do an oil change before this saturday. I thought 10w30 should be good enough full synthetic.

Thanks for the reply.

If you only track the car every 2 months, then use the Motul 300V 10w40 will be fine. If you track a lot in summer, try to mix 10w40 with 15w50 together.

If you don't wanna use Motul 300V because of the price, then use Eneos.

I have sent out all my fluid to Blackstone Labs. These are the fluid always come out on top. Also, check the engine oli often, Nissan engines tend to get dirty sooner than others.

Dare I say that if you are changing your oil at regular intervals you will be fine with any of the listed oils. I'd focus more on the cooling aspect to keep from cooking than I would on the brand/weight... get a quality w30 or w40 and call it a day.
