Shifter movement on the throttle

Hi all, new Z owner here and am loving it except for one annoyance: I can feel the shifter move slightly as I get on or let off the throttle. There's also quite a bit of vibration in the shifter overall, even if I'm just sitting idle in neutral.

Now I've read up on clutch "shudder" or "chatter" -- my experience isn't with unexpected sounds or anything, just the vibration and movement of the shifter that I don't think is normal.

Am I off my rocker or should I take it in? I've got a 2011 Touring with a little over 1200 miles on it...

It's normal.

I'd be a little worried if it didn't move. It moves because of the movement of the drivetrain.

Is this your first manual?
The tranny moves with the engine as it torques, happens. :driving:

As has already been said, it's normal.

Most high-performance cars use a direct or semi-remote mounted shifter.

On the Z, the shifter bolts to a support structure that mounts directly to the transmission, so you will feel every little vibration coming from the transmission.

You might like a weighted shift knob

Thanks all -- it's actually not my first manual, but... It's been awhile :)

So, sorry for the noob question -- glad I asked here instead of taking it in and displaying my ignorance in a more public manner :icon17:
