HI/LOW RPM Problem

Hello Everyone,

Has anyone encountered any of the below problems:

[1] HI RPM (slightly above 1000):- sometimes when I keep switching between the S-mode and Normal drive mode the RPM seems to be stuck at a range slightly above/close to the 1000. This however gives you the feeling that someone is slightly hitting the accelerator instead of you and thus affecting the breaks as you need to completely step on the clutch to prevent such effect while breaking (it happened to me 3 times now). [Note: the effect is not very dangerous as it is very predictable and anyone can control it because you can feel it easily. However, it worries me much].

Anyway, on the 3 rd time I took the car immediately to the local dealer here and they ran a check over the car and informed me that there was no technical issue at all and they have adjusted the RPM (^_^) great I said however, NOW I have ----

[2] LOW RPM:- (almost near 500):- the car seems very quite while it is not moving because of the low RPM, however when you are about to make a complete stop the RPM sometimes drops to almost below 500 for a second and comes back to the same level again (this feels like the car is about to be turned off) my guess is that this effect is mainly because of the low RPM set by the car dealer therefore I might need to take it back to them to slightly adjust the RPM again.

Hope someone can help me on the above issues and it would be great if anyone had managed to adjust the RPM by himself instead of taking the car to the dealer and would like to share the process with me?

Thanks and kind regards

I guess, that you drive automatic gearbox?

NO the gearbox is Manual

Can you specify low rpm problem a little bit more? With engaged or disengaged clutch, with which gear shifted, or neutral. Sounds like problem with map - ECU is adjusting timing or A/F badly.

Vehicle speed sensor issue? TPS issue? Many possibilities.... any fault codes?

The drop in the RPM problem occur while the clutch is disengaged or neutral. I still believe that adjusting the RPM (slightly increased) will solve the problem.

Emmm, Speed sensor issue (^_^) never thought about it!! I think i should give it a try during the next service. As far as fault codes ... The agent has confirmed that there was no fault at all (everything was normal).

Idle air control valve issue... they closed it off to much. Really they shouldn't be adjusting that at all, if your ECU wasn't messed with it should have the correct factory setting. I'd have them raise the idle a bit.

I have just bought (OBD II Scanner) and when I linked it, the results were as follow... NO fault codes appeared but the check engine light was ON because there was an engine miss-fire.

I think that I need to reset the check engine light to clear the miss-fire note.

However, I am sure that this issue has noting to do with the RPM .... on the next service I will have to ask the dealer to check the speed sensor what do you think ?
