Odd Oil Cooler Prpblem

2 Attachment(s)
Hey guys,

Just had my Stillen 25R Oil Cooler installed last night. Late to the party, but anyhow, the problem is not the oil cooler itself, it's after installed. Right now the oil reads either exactly or below 180F - perfect for me, while the water temps read 2 dots from the center towards C - which yet again is perfect.

The issue is, today in SD around 11AM, my weather temp sensor - not sure what it is called by I've searched everywhere in our forum - it reported 60F outside which is normal. What isn't normal is after 25 minutes of driving around 65-75mph, the weather temp reports from 121F to 130F!!!

I attached a couple of photos, the first one is in the morning and the 2nd photo is when I parked at work 25 mins later. Some say the weather sensor needs to be relocated, but can someone shed some light? I know I have to go back to Stillen, but they're half day on a Saturday and closed on Sundays. It bugs me that I couldn't find any answers. :shakes head:

Anyone with oil coolers experienced this?

Thanks.

I had this problem after installing the oil cooler. The temp sensor was located too close to the oil cooler and had to be moved. That is likely the problem.

This also ^^^

If the cooler was installed a little too close to the air temp sensor? The radiant heat from the oil cooler will throw the ambient air sensor off this can be easily fixed by either moving the cooler more to the side away from the ambient sensor or relocate the sensor away from the oil cooler. Im running a 34 row and I had to relocate mine because the left side of the cooler was within a couple of inches from the ambient air sensor.

Moved to the right section

I could see how that could be the problem. My sensor is about three inches away and no issues. I have the the 34R also.

25 row and never noticed this (but also never checked)... I'll look today but the theory is sound. I'd move the sensor... probably easier.

I appreciate everyone's reply! And apologies for posting at the wrong section.

Is moving that sensor pretty easy? Anyone has a photo of it?

Thanks a million again!

Check out this thread. Trips included a picture in post #6 to show where he relocated it.

Here's a pic of mine. You can easily see the sensor to the left.
