Big problems Shifting into 4th
Ill get Straight to it, at wot my 1-2-3 gear changes are great, no problems, however shifting into 4th above 7k rpm in 3rd is... Well, odd. Half the time the clutch grabs 4th ang goes. However, the other half of the time, the car reacts as if i shifted into 2nd from the redline in 3rd ( banging off the limiter, car slows down FAST). This has happened to me atleast 5 times, and yes i shifted into 4th as the indictor on the speedo confirms. Last night i attempted to granny shift from 3rd to 4th at 7000 rpm, i dissengaged the throttle, pushed the clutch to the floor, movedthe gearshift at a casual pace securely into 4th, and the instant i let off the clutch the car repeatedly bounced off the redline as if were in 2nd, i looked at the dash, the car was indeed in 4th...
Any help is appreciated |
If the problem is easily replicable, take it to your dealeship and have them drive it.

Now that I think about it, 7000 rpm in 3rd is going ~90 mph. I hope the mechanic doesn't mind going that fast to diagnosis the problem.

Do you have synchro rev match on when this problem occurs?

There is no way you could go from 3rd to 4th and the car UP-REV... something is seriously wrong... don't ask the forum, go to the dealership. You can't go from 3rd to 2nd at 7k without blowing the motor either (you'd be above 9k rpm). My only thought is a bad 4th gear syncro and you are not actually fully in gear and the rev synch is just blipping the throttle. Regardless get your car to the dealer immediately and baby it until you do.

on second thought your car wouldn't pull back if you just missed 4th and went to neutral. Again I'd head straight to the dealership but I don't think your in 2nd because the limiter wouldn't do any good if you accidentally downshifted at 7k. You'd likely have a pretty large paperweight.

All the dealership will do is teach you how to drive without shifting into 2nd at high speeds.
