Going with a set of NST pulleys... advice?
 

Just wondering if anyone has any little tips or tricks on these? I have done plenty of installs myself, but am I better off to let a shop handle this? I've read some horror stories, but it seems they are usually due to improper installs mostly.

no opinions? How about this... pulleys or drop-ins, pmt's, and modshacks fang vent kit then?

fvck it, I'll give you my opinion which is: I've always been leary of lightweight/underdrive pulleys, like most, I've heard the horror stories. I was on the fence about getting a stock sized lightweight pulley when I read and saw the post/pics Sam from GTM supplied with f'd up lightweight pulley on the car they were going stage II s/c. For me, that sealed the deal where I just can't justify potential risk, even if it tursn out to be a small one, for the whole 3-4whp you pick up from installing one of these. I'd go lightweight flywheel instead to free up hp instead.

If you are hell bent on it, I'd go to a reputable shop to get it done unless you are very confident in your skills.

^ agree with this. Not worth it for the minuscule gains you will see.

I have had mine installed for about 4,000 miles and have had zero problems. The install was pretty simple too. I think there worth it and the car seems to rev a little quicker aswell..

I had NST pulleys installed and have had no problems. Small gains sure, but oh well. :rolleyes:

Each HP is worth it if it's 190.00 for 5 whp that NST has shown. I know people have had some issues with theirs... i'm thinking about it though.

Issues come from poor installation. Find someone who has done a few pulley installs on 370s. As long as their reputable, then you should be good. I've had zero problems with my set thats been on since Aug. :tup:

I've seen more Z's with them with no issues than ones that have issues.

I would get them, but I don't think the work justifies the cost nor then gains.

The only issues Ive seen is when GTM went to remove one. But IMO not worth it. There plenty of other functional things I'd rather purchase.

Fact: NST Pulleys offer better HP & TQ across the entire RPM band.
Fact: NST Pulleys lead to better throttle response at all RPM.
Fact: NST Pulleys lead to better fuel economy.

Given the above facts, it is safe to say that NST pulleys are the BEST bang per buck modification at this price level.

And you DO NOT need to take my word for it. Read through the THIRTY, yes 30, page thread where actual NST pulley owners have used these pulleys on their real cars in the real world...

I can vouch....i had these on my 370 and it felt a peppier everywhere...excellent fit and finish...for the price you cant go wrong

No experience with them on our cars, but I always ran them on my mustangs. I had zero issues with them, and the people who did had poor installations, and I always did mine myself. The only thing I never liked was the weak alternator output, and the problems caused thereby. But NST offers an overdrive pulley for the alternator, thus solving this drawback. They do add to the throttle response, and I am putting a set on my wish list. :tup:

Read GTM Sam's commentary on undampened pulleys... it's in the stg II SC thread, 1st page.

FWIW, I, and pretty much every tuner and engine builder I've ever spoken to agree.

After reading the write up on Lightweight pullies from GTM I will never install them on my car.
