yea definitely didn't need 34 row for DD. the OEM 300zx TT oil cooler is very sufficient, my temps never get past like 190 in normal driving and i think the OEM oil cooler is like 4 row or 9 row i forget....

ok well i can say that 350z's had this same style of cooler they actually took it off for the 370's and now it's back, funny how oil problems come and go with things like that. it is just coolant supply and draw to the adapter, retrofitting it you could tee it from wherever you want so long as one is supply and one is draw and you aren't an idiot about where you run the hoses. the oil flows over a coolant tube in the adapter plate that cools it all the lines supply is coolant no oil leaves the plate. all you would need is the plate and the bolt and some coolant line a a couple tee's and clamps

Edit: i get $254 for the cooler, and $30 for other parts if you don't need it all to be factory oh and lets not forget unless you blow a ring gasket there is 0 chance of massive oil leaks from a water -oil cooler because there are no lines

I guess the big question is... Does it work? One guy on another thread said it does not but he was running in the engine so...

Yeah, that was me. I am now at 1000 miles and just had my first oil change and I am still seeing very high temps for even moderate driving around town--220+. Nothing actually overheating, but there is no way that this OEM cooler is up to the challenge of FI or track days.

it should run around 220 question is how far over does it go when you beat on it. coolant temps are around 190-200 when warmed up

Really, is 220 the norm? If so, then I am not getting too far above that. I think highest I have seen was spirited driving at around 600 miles and about 240-250. Since my first oil change, I think the highest I have seen is 230. I wish my gauges had the max recall feature like my old Defi gauges!

I have this from factory on my 08 G35 HR sedan.
It comes STOCK on all G35's, G37's, 350Z's and 370Z's of ALL years in the GCC as well as Australia.

The HR and VHR have two passages for coolant circulation. G/Z's without this cooler have the passages blocked (A block off plate is used on the lower passage under Bank 1 exhaust manifold, and the heater pipe installed on the second passage consists of 2 pipes instead of 3).

Now, cars that have this cooler pre-installed have a pipe instead of a block off plate and a different upper pipe with 3 exits instead of 2.

There is also a bunch of smaller pipes and hoses leading all the way to the sandwich adapter in front of the engine block as shown below in the circled area.

As far as cooling efficiency, it's crap. Don't waste your money on it. In fact if you have it, I suggest you remove all of this junk and get a proper 19/25/34 row Setrab cooler. Average coolant temps on our cars are only a little less than oil temps, therefore not much actual cooling will be seen when you introduce hot oil to slightly cooler coolant and in such a small area where heat is allowed to transfer.
Furthermore, there is no way you can install the lower pipe without removing the driver's side header, which as we all know is a pain in the *** and will take a lot of time and $$ to do.

I have a 2012 7at. I have not tracked it and not sure if I will. It's my dd but I have never seen the temp go more than 190-200 tops, even when I run her hard for a sustained period of time on I-95 or reg streets when some punk kid try's to challenge me because daddy got him a camaro (maybe they don't know how to drive) but its funny watching them fall way behind. I live in S. Fl and we haven't had a winter this year so ambient temps are usually low to mid 80s. I'm not a gear head at all but did read all the oil temp issues earlier models have had but like I said with my 12 I have had no issues what so ever

I've got a base 6mt and highest so far has been 200. Ambient temp has been 76 at night and 90+ during the day. Car is in break in period still so haven't really pushed it.

at fontana speed way on Sunday my 2012 pushed to 260 deg temp!!!! It was around maybe 60's ? Running WAY too hot. I will order a 34 row cooler soon.

^^ that's way too hot! So the lesson here, if you drive normally and don't want to use the car at the track the you're set with the new water-oil cooler. Then again, those you DD and don't track were fine before without an oil cooler as well. So this kind of changes nothing.
