open diff to limited slip conversion?

Hey all,

I'm on my way to FI my 370z. I have a non-sport model and one of the things I'm doing is getting the "VLSD". Someone thats parting out wants to sell me the center section (of a 370z sport) and says that it'll convert it into limited. Is this the only part I need?

You should just get a real limited slip diff, if you're going to pay for one and get it installed, etc.

This.

For a VLSD install, you need the diff and a half shaft from a VLSD model....forget which side though.

Edit: re read your post, realized you were talking swapping pumpkins...very easy, may be worth it. Still recommend a real LSD though.

Just get a real one, like the Quaife LCD and you won't need to modify anything. You only need to get the stub shaft assembly if you go with factory VLSD.

I have a OS Giken and it's great.

yea a mechanical LSD will be vastly superior to the OEM unit, especially when pushing that extra power

Quaife Differential

Whoa!! Quaife makes an LCD diff :icon17:

they are right though. it with cost u a little more but the VLSD is not as effective as an aftermarket LSD. I believe it uses fluid pressure (viscious) to distribute power and is not comparable to a clutch type LSD. up to you OP, you could try it out and see if it suits you and if not just sell it and get an aftermarket LSD.

blue pill or red pill... the choice....is yours.... :)
