Up to 90 is good according to GPS on my phone. But my GF is following me and my cruise is set at 74 and she says she is doing 70 and GPS says I'm doing 73. So I'd say at legal speed limits and normal driving your alright.

On the gears... what is the OE ratio?

OE M/T ratio is 3.69

I'd do it... but I wouldn't want my gas mileage to suffer.

6mtg37s 08-29-2011 03:52 AM

Wonder how bad the gas mileage would have been with 4.30 gearing.. So you would need 6th gear to hit 155.. Interesting.

I just did a 145 miles on a 1/4 tank cruising between 70-75mph. I doubt it hurts that much.

I have the 4.08's in my 7AT and the fuel consuption went for 7.7 L/ 100 km to 8.8 L / 100 km
12.5% increase on a good day . 36.7 m/g to 32.1 CDN gal.
I avg city and high way 10.6/ = 26.7 m/g
us gal = 22.25 avg.
just wait till i get the GTM stage 2.
Now i have leaned my car out and that makes a big differnce in aceleration.
The gears on a 7 AT make a huge difference. standing 1/4 mie 12.42 @ 114.37
2 nd gear is the gear of punishment for what ever is beside me the car just flys like it has nitrous. Simply just put you back in the seat.
the fuel consumption get a lot worse if you start putting your foot into it.

I really wish my car was 400lbs lighter. A 12.4 would be plenty for me.

I did the ART pipes - 6.5 lbs from stock cats and then removed the cat brace which is about 3 lbs (only by holding it) ... so 9 lbs there. If I go with the F.I. exhaust then i'd lose another 10 lbs... the whole spare set-up with no sub is about 40 or 42 lbs someone said on here... so there's 50 lbs. seats, smaller battery, even get a nice set of speakers and take out the others, etc. etc. lose some weight on our bodies lol.. i'm about 170... i'm getting back down to about 155 or so (not for the car just for health). Once they crack the VVEL I look for our cars to be able to gain another 20 whp or so maybe... hopefully with a set of cams and such.

quicksilver08 08-29-2011 04:53 PM

I might ditch the spare but I'm getting ready to add a couple subs so lol

Hey quicksilver - did you buy an install kit for the seals/bearings or did you piece what you needed together on your own.

jnaut in his thread didn't need the side bearings/seals - or even the front seal for that matter. I just don't see how you could get in there and not replace those all the way around.

Any downsides to the new pulleys? Noises etc?

quicksilver08 09-02-2011 10:38 AM

I used the list he posted in his thread and it all went smooth.

I've got a weird feeling in my clutch pedal that wasn't there before but I don't know if its the pulleys or a line resting on the frame or something else. The steering wheel is maybe 1% harder to turn in a parking lot but is still easily spinable with one finger.

I'm looking forward to getting some miles on it this weekend. This old work truck sucks haha
