Electric Cutouts anyone?

I sold my GtHaus exhaust a few months ago and I honestly miss how loud and obnoxious it was :stirthepot: But I don't want to drop that much money on an exhaust again so I was going to maybe try a qtp electric cutout. Does anyone have one of these? I just want to get an idea of what it sounds like. I searched already and couldn't find anything. I know it's been asked before but I figured maybe somebody has one now

If I'm understanding correctly, this is to adjust the openness of your exhaust on the fly... If so, FlawlessZ has a manual version

Buddy of mine had it on his B6 A4. Loud as fvck when open of course. He's dropped about 2.5-3" so he ended up clipping some wires on some entrance hill andddd it wouldn't close so I guess if you're doing it make sure you install it to where theres nothing hanging down lower than it's supposed too.

Alright will do. And is it smart to have a small pipe attatched that points down at the ground? Or does it not matter?

FlawlessZ 01-29-2013 11:24 AM

Here is a clip my friend put up when I first installed it.

370Z exhaust control valve closed/open - YouTube

Honestly do a manual one like mine I wouldn't trust a remote when I need to close it up when im near a piglet if you know what I mean.

Jbwrecked 01-29-2013 11:24 AM

I think as long as its aimed away for anything that could be burned you'll be fine. Doesn't necessarily have to be aimed at the ground hit that'd be a good idea.

QTP » Electric Exhaust Cutouts

I think this is the one my buddy just maybe a different flange or something but it already has a pipe attached to it as well. You would just bolt on your exhaust (that's not cutout) to where the pipe is and once the cutout is closed it will have the exhaust sound and if you open that then it will be the loud cutout exhaust sound if I'm not mistaken.

Mine ia an Exhaust.Control.Valve.

I actually lose HP in general but gain a tiny bit of low end torque when I close the valve, since car gets very little back pressure.

NOT A CUTOUT (this is only for Forced Induction cars/for gains)

Well i just wanted it for sound, not really for hp :)

I've heard that the motors on these are very prone to failure, and you may run into a slight leak when it's closed. I'm sure it sounds amazing, though.

I havnt seen any bad reports. I know there's probly a small leak, but is the motor thing true? Cuz they say they're weather proof but hmmmmm

A lot of guys used these in the Subaru world, and there were always a few threads about the motor failing. I can't speak to the quality and weatherproofing of the install, though.

Yea that's why I mentioned that the manual ones are a whole lot more reliable/cheaper too but it dose require wiring the push /pull switch to the cabin which was the harder part of the install.

So maybe the electric will be easier to install?

daisuke149 01-31-2013 07:26 AM

I havnt heard of QTP motor failures really at all and the muscle car guys use this quite a bit.
