Softer Shifter?

Hey guys, I've had by 2009 370Z Nismo for more than a month now and have a problem that I can't get over. The shifter is way too stiff for my liking and it's a hastle going from gear to gear.

I used to drive a 04' Jetta GLI with a 6 speed transmition for 3 years and that had such a smoother shifter, so I can't get myself to adjust to the Nissans.

Are there any aftermarket shifters I can get that are actually SOFTER than the soft one? Or possibly an aftermarket short shifter that is adjustable?

I would really appreciate it if you guys can help. And yes you can call me a wimp for wanting to make my shifter softer.

Thanx

LOL, go back to a 'girly' car!!! In all seriousness, there is nothing hard about the shifter in this car. My 'vette has a smoother shift than the Z but a little stiffer clutch pedal. Can't always have it both ways. Some here will agree with you though but comparing this shifter to a VW? C'mon, really.

Hey, my VDUB could spank most of the 370z's here and I didn't need a rock hard shifter to do it :icon17: And in all seriousness, I was looking for some help, not bashing

You'll get used to it bro

Yeah Rub, just takes some getting used to.

It's not all that bad. First to second seems to be the pain, after that it's good to go for myself.

Pretty much, the helper spring helps with the 1st - 2nd.

^This, the spread between 1st and 2nd gear makes it a bit of an annoyance since you just have to take your time to get a smooth shift. 3-6th are much nicer to work with since the gearing is more closely spaced. The shifts are a little notchy too but not excessively so, I personally will replace my trans fluid with some Redline soon since some have reported smoother shifting with it.

^This...let us know how the Redline MT transmission oil is! I was thinking about this too!

thanx for the help so far guys

I think ill take out the helper spring in the clutch, change the tranny fluid, and possibly buy new clutch lines and see if that works out.
