Was it hard to install?

O&G 10-24-2011 04:59 PM

engine and tranny were already out of the car but to answer your question, no, have something to support the tranny and you should be good.

christian370z 10-25-2011 01:21 AM

Hmmm, I will definitely be looking into these when I come across some disposable cash haha. How much labor is involved in the installation?

KamiSpeed 10-27-2011 04:46 PM

just arrived in store to be shipped internationally... they're good quality and damn sexy haha, if only the engine mounts were actually visible =P

tjaartk 10-28-2011 05:18 AM

Drop-in Engine mounts

1 Attachment(s)
Hi Guys, I had the drop-in engine mounts installed on my SC 370z. Within 10 miles they started self-destructing. By 50 miles they were so bad I had to remove them. See attached picture..

The install was handled by the Nissan Workshop, this was a professional install - they dropped the suspension to install the mounts - 2 hours labour. (and 2 hours again to put back the OEM mounts)

I have contacted Drop-in Engineering for a refund - lets see what happens.

Holy cow.....

NewYorkJon34 11-26-2011 10:08 AM

Sry to hear, but when a company makes a part & has no actual review on it. This is to be expected, I hope you get your refund.

VQStryker 11-26-2011 10:57 AM

wow, I hope you get your money back too

4-stroke 11-26-2011 11:19 AM

I guess thats what happens your stuff is made in China!

KamiSpeed 11-26-2011 03:11 PM

dude we're sorry to hear about that, if you need anything from us let me know

also they assured us that they had the mounts installed on their test 370Z so idk what happened, keep us posted

NeverBoneStck 11-29-2011 04:50 PM

I'd just return it before you install it & have something mess up

well from what I've been informed the guy out in South Africa was running a S/C thus accounting for a lot more power and vibrations... I think we should wait it out and see what happens

NewYorkJon34 11-29-2011 08:40 PM

But these are suppost to be better then the stock mounts & there are plenty of people with superchargers & stock mounts doing fine.

tjaartk 11-30-2011 02:25 AM

Patrick from Drop Engineering has come back and indicated that KamiSpeed have to handle the refund. Response please guys?

I am not sure how the 370 mounts differ from the 350Z (the are very similar shape and size) but I have tested the 350Z mounts for a build project and the OEM parts come out at 54kg/mm vertical stiffness. The OEM parts are about twice as stiff compared with other 6 cylinder road car applications which are typicaly 25-30 kg/mm

D.Engineering 11-30-2011 05:03 PM

Hey guys.

We are sad to see something like this happen to our products. Please understand that we are doing everything in our power to assist the customer in order to have the situation resolved as soon as possible. Additionally, our Production team is looking into the reason as to why this occurred. We have installed these mounts onto a basically stock vehicle, as well as our 500whp supercharged 370z which attended SEMA. Both are not experiencing these issues.

tjaartk, we are currently working with your vendor to get this handled immediately. We do appreciate your patience with this matter.

If anyone has any questions for us, please do not hesistate to e-mail me directly at patrick@dropengineering.com, or sales@dropengineering.com.

Thanks,
-Pat

When you accelerate, there is a noticeable lag created with OEM mounts due to movement of the motor.
wouldn't the motor have to actually fully rotate in the engine bay for there to be any lag in throttle response? i mean i know there are reasons for solid motor mounts, i have them in my 300zx but it had nothing to do with delay in throttle response...

the insanely small amount of movement that the engine actually goes through when it torques to one side under acceleration.... i dont even think that could cause a measurable delay in throttle response.

When you reduce engine movement you get a perceived "snatch" as the drivetrain comes on load. On standard mounts this is dampened out , particularly when they are hydraulic mounts like the 370Z has. Its more of a "feel" than an actual quickness on the throttle. It does give the feeling that you are more connected to the car. It’s very subjective.

Hello guys just following up on this thread becasue I am intrested in the Drop Engineering mounts.

So I read this whole thread, one guy bought the mounts then they self distructed shortly after install.

Then he gets a refund and is satisfied, thats where the story ends.

So is the conclusion to not buy these? There is no mention that he got a bad set, just that he got a refund.

Thanks,

Thanks,

The main issue was with the engine mounts. So the transmission mounts are ok.
We're not sure if he just received a bad set of engine mounts or just exceeded its limit with the amount of power his car was making.

Since then, there hasn't been any more issues with other clients. So I would say these are safe to to use if you're running up to 100hp over stock. Let me know if you're interested in a set.

Thanks

thanks, I did a little reading and from what I gathered it just talked more about the process and not really how they worked for him, I think he said something about testing it on the track later...

I am impressed!

I know this thread is dead as a doornail but I'm gonna post anyway cuz I'm slightly saddened. Had these on for about ...a week? I'm NA, all stock and found these for a steal here on the classifieds. Looked under the car today and noticed some green sticking out. Upon further inspection I saw this :(
