4.08 frontier gears and LSD
Been doing some digging around and I'm about ready to pull the trigger but just want to make sure I'm getting all the right parts.
http://www.the370z.com/530450-post50.html I found that thread with all the part numbers on it. If I'm reading it right, since my car is a 6mt and has the factory VLSD (99.9% sure it does) all I need is the gears and install kit. I don't need a stub shaft. Am I right? Anything else I should get other than the part numbers listed in that post? LSD's. Here's where I start getting fuzzy and need some help. My car is not a track car and never will be. It's a weekend cruiser that I take out and have fun with on the back roads or take my girl out to dinner in. So would yall go quaife or wavetech? Or something else all together? Uprev mentioned to me that the wavetech was carried by nissan performance or something like that. Baker tuning in Houston is going to be doing the install for all these parts. Talked to a whole bunch of shops between Austin and Houston and 3/4 of them wouldn't touch it and out of the 2 that would touch it I only felt comfortable with them while talking to them. Thanks for the help yall. |
Anyone?

I had a Quaife LSD in an old Civic, and it was amazing. That car was nothing more than a toy I would take out & beat the snot out of, and the LSD was perfect. Until I sold the car to a friend, who managed to blow the tranny up in less than a week :( Pro-Tip: When you have 1 drive wheel in dirt, and the other on pavement, don't try to spin the tires. Transmissions don't like that.
Another car I'm familiar with has a Quaife LSD, and is putting down over 500whp to the front wheels. Every track event results in a broken transmission... teeth sheering off gears. The LSD is still going strong. I believe the owner of that car is about to part it out because he doesn't want to spend $6k on cryo-treated gears : / I've heard good things about Wavetech products, but have no 1st hand experience. We have the Carbonetic 1.5 and 2 way diffs on our website, but I'm pretty sure could get you the Quaife as well, since we have them for other cars. PM me with your zip code and I'll shoot you a price with shipping if you're interested. http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/t...4257_4518.html |
If you are not going to track it, why do you want those high gears? If you are not going to track it, you don't need a Quaife or another new one - stock is fine.

I don't track it but I do screw around with it while I'm driving and enjoy a good blast every now and again. I don't want to deal with the hassle of going forced induction (I went extreme on my truck in terms of mods) and the cost of it so the gears make sense. So I'm thinking gears and then a tune and I'll be set for a while. Till the car goes out of warranty and then I'll probably slap a blower on it.

All the information you need is under 4.08 frontier gear swap.

Sweet. They actually used your parts list to make sure they had everything in stock and ready to go. Thanks for the research.
