Add a M1 oil filter as well and you're fine.

Because if you're still on warranty, they'd use any excuse NOT to fulfill the warranty.

when should you do your first change?

you can go to the full mileage interval for the first change as it doesnt use any kind of "break in" oil

no flaming, complaining, lectures, why or why not. Simple. Whos running full synthetic and going 5k-7k intervals.

If you are changing every 3k good for you, no opinion needed.

I am at 5300 now, oil color and level looks good, thinking of going a few more weeks to 6k

Live in Florida. Last oil change was March 5

Does the 370Z have an oil-life indicator? If so, follow that.

If not, I would happily run it 5-7K of street-use. I have about 2500 miles on my Z06's oil and the DIC is in the 80%+ range of life remaining.

I remember a long time ago a guy on the LSX forums was doing oil analysis and the TBN showed on most oils that at 9K it had life left.

However, the 370Z does run hotter than the LSX engine family.

If you really REALLY care, send Blackstone labs an oil sample and let them tell you what's going on in YOUR engine.

oil changes every 5k miles unless during a track event, we see sustained oil temps above 240 deg. Then it'll get changed w/in a week or two after the track day.

Running mobil1 0w-40 w/mobile1 oil filter and have a 34r oil cooler (see sig).

Yes

Personally too nervous for 6k... 3-4k is typically when I change.

No matter what oil or car I always change oil and filter between 3,000 and 3,500. It is cheap insurance to keep fresh oil in the crankcase and false economy to try to stretch out the intervals.

I freak out after 3k

Ztoon 07-22-2011 05:25 PM

Yep. 5-6K, M-1

I live in FL as well, and I usually go about 4,000 to 4,500 miles between oil changes (off the shelf synthetics). My Z is not a daily driver anymore, so I end up changing every 4 to 6 months now.

I've sent in all but one of my recent oil samples to blackstone labs. They all look great at 4k miles, especially the TBN. Blackstone's comment was:

Quote:

Go 6,000 miles on your next fill, unless you're doing a lot of racing.
I could go to 6k miles easily but old habits die hard, and 6 months seems like a good time to change the oil anyway. To each his own.
