How's your car coping with all this dry heat?

theDreamer 07-25-2011 05:24 PM

No idea, we do not have dry heat. :p
Car is fine, but the system does not like the heat in the afternoon or long traffic exposure. I have never had the car over heat or anything, but you can see all the temps get up in traffic.

Haha... I didn't remember it being that humid, but there was one morning when my glasses fogged up after stepping out of the garage lol. Justin's car seem to be doing very well even with the A/C blasting. Definitely looking forward to getting force fed... are you going to drop by to check out my car? :)

No. :p
Definitely will be, have a summer class going on right now but I usually am able to stop by once a week, give the guys a hard time.

Did this help at all?
Water temps never get to the middle dot even on a long trip. Never seen any issues there.
Oil however is another issue. with the gtm sc oil temps quickly get to 220 in the summer and running down the interstate at 80mph i am running at 235-240 on the oil. Seems high to me even especially with the 24 row setrab cooler.

Wonder if you could add some ventalation to the cowl where the wipers sit to help incoming air pass over the engine and over the car? Not that this would help the oil temps much.

Yea true... oil temps is one thing. I was hoping to improve cooling of the rest of the components. All I can say is... don't put your finger on the housing of the VVEL actuator motor ;)

So how about vented hood and fenders? Perhaps some sort of plates or panels that channel the air out of the engine bay?

fuct 08-16-2011 10:05 AM

Zat_Zuma, how hard would it have been to space those 1/2" holes equally apart? looks a little tacky if you ask me...

Zat_Zuma 08-16-2011 11:01 AM

The angle of the picture and crappy flash misrepresents the overall results, plus I do have something else in the works for a better and drier vented fender liner system. :icon17:

fuct 08-16-2011 11:28 AM

ahhh! yeah i figured with all the other great work youve done some nicer holes would have been drilled! :P

So did this actually help? I am considering doing the same.. My recent track day saw oil temps of as much as 295! 260-280 thoughout most of the day.

moto_italia 08-17-2011 02:40 PM

^ Yikes. Which oil cooler are you running?

zzdudaka 08-18-2011 09:27 AM

GTM SC Stage 1 with 25row setrab. SC adds a lot of heat.. Track temp of about 105.
