SES light help...

Well yesterday my SES light came on on the way back from lunch.

Here's the possible problems,

1. Yesterday morning, I put gas in the car with the car running, possible gas cap alert ? But the light didn't come on until about 5 hrs later. I double checked the cap and retightened it, but the light didin't go off.

2. About 200 miles ago I installed HFC's. The HFC's do have an extended O2 bung. I checked and I don't have any exhaust leaks, and the wideband O2 plugs are tight.

Would pulling the neg battery terminal turn off the light ?
Should I go to autozone and get a code check ?
If it is a O2 code, would the "steel wool" trick work?
Are there any potential problems driving with the light on?

Thanks guys..

Get the code read, it is a free service. The code will point you in the direction of the problem, e.g. evap leak (gas cap) or O2 sensor issue.

Disconnecting the battery will reset the light. If the problem persists the light will come back on.
