Smoke coming from the exhaust

Yesterday my friend gets a 350z and his girl friend was with him so I gave her the keys to my mine thinking she could handle a 7AT. Well we are driving beside her an I noticed the sound of engine red lining so we get her to pull over an the temp gauge said 260 so I let it cool down for a couple of hours an now a white smoke shoots out the exhaust. The temp is back to normal everything seems ok but everytime I start it up the smoke comes out. What should I do??

White smoke is coolant which could signify a head-gasket problem

Z RATED OKC 05-01-2011 11:14 AM

Is there anything to prevent the smoke...

You sure it's not condensation? Does it smell like burnt oil or fresh oil? Or does it have a sweet smell? Check coolant level and oil level.

Take it to a dealer to have it evaluated and repaired if there is a problem. Otherwise, just don't start it.

Yea you got to smell the smoke.

+1 if she kept it redlined and heated it up really hot it COULD have blown a head gasket (fairly common on cars that overheat) and if so, you could end up with coolant in your oil and a new short (or long) block in your future.

It seems not even limp mode can save the Z from a dumbass driver.

Take some vids. After the car warms up is smoke coming out of the exhaust still? If you give it some gas or drive it, does it spew out a bunch of smoke? Also, are your water temps staying the same, or is it higher than usual? Check the dipstick for anything unusual.

When the car warms up the smoke clears the smoke has a nasty burnt smell to it an i checked the oil nothing is unusual with it i let it run for little bit everything seemed fine but I'm going to the dealer tomorrow an see what they have to say
