160 miles on 2011 Nismo 370z. Needs new transmission :(

As the title reads. Not only after I asked about 6 times if they removed the spring spaces and they assured me they did. Lo and behold the spacers were in fact on the car. Next order of business, the cars got 160 miles on it and there is this terrible grinding noise. I took the car and they decided it needed a new transmission.

There's no way im keeping this car so I suppose my question is; should I stick with the Nismo z? If so what kind of ultimatum should I make?

What caused it to fail?

Jakextrainer 04-26-2011 01:43 PM

I have no idea I'm waiting to get off work to go over there. :(

With that short of mileage it must be low on fluid (not properly filled) Bum deal!

RCZ 04-26-2011 01:49 PM

sounds like you have either a fluke or an abused car. These things happen...

RedBullRR 04-26-2011 01:51 PM

That's crazy. Problem is you'll end up in a hole regardless if you give it up now.

Waiz 04-26-2011 02:03 PM

Hmmm you may want to take it somewhere else first.

This sounds like a shady dealer.

Sounds like bad luck.

+1 I'd take it to a different dealer.

Dealer sounds incompitent, it's probably doesn't hurt to get a second opinion.

Triple ditto.........Sounds like someone was joyriding without caring. The dealer should be able to replace it under warranty without any problems. You can always escalate (sp?) to NISSAN corporate and get a resolution. :ugh2:

I honestly don't think you could ruin a transmission that quickly without doing something epic.

Chances are good there was a factory defect, or the trans was run without fluid. Nothing that has been said shows any incompetence on the dealer's part. That doesn't mean there isn't any, but no reason to take it to a different dealer at this point.

I agree. It would be very difficult to blow a tranny in 160 miles. Lol. But if he had the car for most of those miles I doubt he romper on it. My guess is also no-very low fluid.

Sucks but they'll fix it and it will be as good as new
