OIL CHANGE synthetic

How often do you guys and girls change your oil using synthetic

AllForTheCash 03-02-2011 07:52 PM

I do it at 4000 miles. ...Overkill

kellyefields 03-02-2011 07:55 PM

5k every time. I also use a synthetic filter and have a 34 row oil cooler for good measure.

SPOHN 03-02-2011 08:31 PM

Not this question again! :shakes head:

Red__Zed 03-02-2011 09:27 PM

I changed at 1200 miles, and every 3500 beyond that. I do a more frequent change by mileage because the cars sits, but given the wear patterns in the VQ, I wouldn't go too long between changes.

Never i use Unicorn Blood. It lasts for all eternity, and it give you 500hp plus your Z can fly.

Can anyone say READ....or at least use the search.

djpathfinder 03-02-2011 09:58 PM

Go by what the owner's manual says.

frost 03-02-2011 10:04 PM

Let's get to the real question, which oil is the best?

I'd say Amsoil.

I will try to put some info in this tread since somebody accidently searching may find it. The ester oils like Red Line and Amsoil are not like Mobil 1 and should be changed at 3K. they are not "long lived" oil that can take the claimed 15K miles that some oils advertise.

KaienZ34 03-02-2011 11:51 PM

And mobil 1 is not a real fully syn. oil FYI besides this thread will be closed/locked soon enough.

Are you saying to change Amsoil and Redline at 3,000 miles?

djpathfinder 03-03-2011 12:26 AM

I use Amsoil. You're good changing at the Nissan recommended intervals (every 6000 km according to my owner's manual). However, I changed it more frequently initially: after break-in (2000 km), and when I installed an oil cooler. Now I'm on regular intervals.

Anyhow, this thread shouldn't even exist. There are numerous other threads on this forum about oil change intervals and what oils to use...these discussions have been done ad nauseum. I highly doubt anyone can bring news breaking info regarding esther oils, synthetic oils, etc unless there's been some huge breakthrough discovery made in the last few months. Please, if anyone has any further questions about the subject matter, do a search before posting!

Z eliminator 03-03-2011 08:03 AM

7000km after break in. I use Castrol Edge with the napa gold filter. Today 22,400 km it had not burned any oil.

KaienZ34 03-03-2011 08:46 AM

This thread is still open. :icon14:

zmyride 03-03-2011 06:36 PM

BTW,

how often should I change my oil? I mean month-wise.

I had my 1st free oil change at the dealership back in September. It will be 6 months in a few days and so far I only put about 2000 miles since.

Is it a good idea to change every 3 months? so that means i'm due for an oil change?
