yeah the scan gauge 2 will work i don't know how accurate it is for the air/fuel ratio i have one it was kinda hit and miss, it's great for a lot of the other stuff it does though. the best thing for air fuel ratio is and always will be an innovative lc1 wide band or two. the plug check method is actually fairly good when your talking about spark plug life. and being how much of d bags they are at your dealer they could have pulled out a plastic bag from one of your intakes, and gone joyriding in your car thinking your just some rich prick who has it better than they do. I bought my z and for the last 2 years anytime i tell someone about it they don't believe i bought it and want to know how much my parents paid for it. I've seen guys at dealerships do the whole reprint the shop order, and lye to people, if you don't walk in there and bend the head tech over your car, prove he's F'n wrong and make the service adviser your friend you are gonna get screwed at most dealers now a days. Think about it most service advisors are just salesman, and they don't bat an eye at bending you over.

Also you would have to be running catastrophically lean to have a power down like that normally if you are lean you get knock first then it goes limp. and they wouldn't really be driving like they stole it if it was misfiring bad enough to go limp because it would have died on them too my guess is they might have removed an obstruction from your intake or fixed a hose that came lose, reset your ecu then gone joyriding and told you it was the plugs as that is probably the easiest thing to tell a car noob when this happens. if it runs like crap because of something stupid that is easily fixed but they want to ring money out of you they tell you it's the plugs because they figure you have to know what those are (which is why they didn't really care to tell you where they are really because they probably aren't bad) then charge you 4 times book to put in new ones thankfully you pulled your car from them.

Simota, did you ever get around to resolving your power issue? Most of are dealing with loss of power (some think it's throttle delay), but your problem seems to be a bit more abrupt and severe. Does it idle rough? How does it rev? Does it feel heavy?

I finally did some more reading, so I'm assuming nothing was done in the end?

hey digi how ya been?!? :hello:

in the end bro nothing.... i did nothing to resolve the issue.... i had my friends test out my car with there scanners and then i scanned it with the scanguage II and i ran a/f ratio tests..... i did multiple WOT runs yesterday and went up to 80 mph no lagging no sputtering what so ever... a/f ratio was consistant during the 8 trials of WOT.... they also told me my sparks were fine? my idle is normal really smooth too :D it doesnt feel heavy feels actually like how it felt when i first got it and floored it.... in the end i can only think of 2 reasons why my car went limp mode that day.... one my car sat for month or more and it freaked out while i was using it two... i had the ducting for my intakes in a spiral i literally wrapped it around my crush bar in the front so very little air was going in my intakes since our cars are so well sealed in the bay it experience massive heat soak cuz my intakes are sri and no heat shields and then it went limp mode because it felt the engine was in danger... when i pulled over right after that was one of the first things i removed and discarded... i believe the dealership made all that crap up just so they could milk me they probably thought i was a tool and wouldnt try and figure it out myself..... thanks to all my friends and people that helped me through this forum

I guess the dealer was so jealous of your ride they wanted a piece of the action. Haters.

Pretty good... should be getting the stock fuel/temp faceplate back with a custom face. It'll be a permanent DIY mod that involves sanding down the face to remove the color, but it's the most economic solution at the moment.

Good to hear your car is doing fine. That's pretty sad they abused your car in the process when nothing was really wrong, but at least your car can cope with it.

So you still had plenty of power after extended driving? Mine starts losing power after driving for awhile (at least 15-20min of driving). I start bogging 1st gear more often, and it just won't budge once I gave it more gas. However, it didn't feel like limp mode either.

Nope... just light weight pulleys and F.I. exhaust. I've dealt with this loss of power before I starting doing upgrades, but for a long time I thought it was normal. We're all still talking about it in the Gas Pedal Delay thread, so I wondered if Simota had an issue that needed a closer look.

try installing a grounding kit i used to have a lag in throttle response.... but it feels like it bites better after the stillen ground kit... but then again it could be a placebo effect

Thanks for the suggestion. I installed one for the 350Z, and it softened the rough idle. Thank goodness the 370Z doesn't exhibit this issue. Throttle response was more or less the same. I'll wait for the turbo upgrade since I don't want anything extra in the engine bay to complicate the install process, but I'll keep you guys informed if the fuel pump upgrade and changing sparking plugs make a difference.
