so does any body now how a stock 370z gearbox can handle?

SPOHN 02-13-2011 03:57 PM

It will handle more than you can throw at it.

ChrisSlicks 02-13-2011 04:44 PM

The clutch and rear-end will go long before the transmission does.

Mjthind 02-13-2011 05:40 PM

I am going to probably throw around 650hp and will it handle I am goin to do clutch upgrade any way so? Will it handle 650hp

If money isn't a problem (as you said in a previous thread of yours) why not get started building? There is plenty of information already here on what is proven to work. All this talk makes me wonder how much it will happen. But from what I've read on here I think the transmission would be one of the last things to get rebuilt if it gets rebuilt at all.

I wouldn't worry about the transmission. The 6-speed manuals in the 350Z were holding PLENTY of power.

I'm more worried about the clutch. Granted I already had 62k miles on my G35 when I added the Turbonetics kit, but the clutch was dead by 64k miles. I replaced it with an ACT 6-puck unsprung. That thing was difficult to drive in stop/go traffic. I honestly stalled it probably once a week...but it never slipped once in the 50k miles I was boosted.

I'm currently doing my research to see if I want to do a 6-puck again or if I'll choose something else. For anyone who has upgraded their clutch and/or flywheel, please let me know your experience.
