I don't have the time to read this whole thread this morning (I'll get to it tonight probably). Has anyone mentioned the following?... Car magazines, publications, and TV spots are all forms of advertising for Nissan. They deliberately misled the press by installing non-standard and non-available parts on the test cars. Isn't that false advertising? These parts make the press cars and the market cars two different animals. This is the old "bate and switch" at its best. This goes beyond mechanical problems and into the realm of legal and ethical debate. The fact that they put these parts on press cars is a blatant admission that there is a temperature problem and Nissan had prior knowledge of it and released the car anyway. This could very easily turn in to a class-action suit IMHO.
And just to be clear that I'm not coming out of left field here...this weekend I did my first ever autoX event. After one 90sec run my temp was already close to 270 and continued to rise for at least 5 minutes after the run. I have no doubt that if I had done two consecutive laps my car would have surpassed the 280F mark. |

I have my first Auto-X in this car on Saturday, ambient is expected to be around 60F. We run a 130-140 second course typically. -Chris |
I wrote Car & Driver, of course I did not get a reply. I'm guessing they don't want to offend an advertiser....

and about 74F on Sunday. Honestly I think it could of been -20F and it would still heat up like that. The temps climbed really fast. |

absolutely unbelievable. So we know that the problem is in 100% of the production cars. I know if we create enough awareness Nissan will have to fix the problem....but since we only represent a spec of dust from the entire 370 population, its difficult.. |
This is similiar to Nissan GTR issues/lies. The only time that the GTR can beat a 911 Turbo is when they use the launch control feature. Which has lead to many transmission issues and Nissan has it in the manual/warranty if you use this feature it voids the warranty. Go to the GTR websites if you do not beleave me. That is why I am leary of buying a Nissan even though I love the 370. I don't trust them.

I think it's important that we stay focused on the oil temp issues here. I don't want to get off subject.
|
Only thing we can do at this point is create as much awareness as possible. Nissan won't do squat until they know that it's affecting their sales.

I own a G37 and my car went into limp mode while doing a canyon run out here on Palomar at midnite. Lots of people have had oil heating issues with the G37 so far, and I witnessed it firsthand. I was hoping Nissan would've addressed this for you 370Z guys since they've known about the problem.
But yeah, Limp mode FTL. Redline drops to about 6,200, throttle is reduced to about 40% no matter if you have it floored. Since then, I've changed to Eneos 5W30 and haven't had that problem come up since, and I've done the same canyon run twice now. |
^^do you have a temp gauge? maybe one of the z guys should try that oil and see what the temps go up to...
|
No no temp gauge bro. I'm doin another canyon run this weekend and I'll letchu guys know the outcome.
But yeah when your car goes into limp mode, its a total "WTF?" moment. |
