If you go into the braking zone of a corner and are on the limits of traction, a bad heel/toe mismatch can push you past the limits of traction. The s-mode will ensure that the downshift is as smooth as possible. If you are in the wet or on a slick surface (oil/coolant), then it will take less to push you past the edge.

If you want to leave a safety margin to avoid the impact of a potential bad heel/toe, then you have to brake a bit less. So if the s-mode lets you reduce your safety margin, then you now have a quicker lap.

Again, it all comes down to your driving style. If you try to go 10/10th all the time, then I doubt s-mode will help. If you drive 9/10th and try to knock out consistent laps, I think the s-mode will help.

It sounds like for you, s-mode does not help. For me, it does. So neither of us was wrong. 8-)

That makes since. It does. But your always going to have ups and downs every lap and ever turn. So in the long run I guess it will even out. Can we agree on that.
