problem with the clutch

when i bought the car, i never noticed this problem. When i press down on the clutch, it seems loose and it only has resistance half way. sometimes it would get stuck in the middle. also the gears are hard to switch. i took it to the dealer and they couldnt find anything wrong with it 2 days of driving it. Today i drove it out and again, its the same thing. I'm going back to the dealer and i have to compare the clutch from a new one cuz i just got it 6 months ago.
any ideas on this guys???

I had a problem once with mine going to the floor and staying. After i pulled it back up, i drove it home and checked the fluid. The level was fine, but it was shuddering taking off in first and hard to shift to second. I bled the clutch with motul rbf 600 and got a pretty good amount of air out of the line. Although the level was normal, before i bled it, there was air in it that would have likely gone undetected if i hadn't bled it. If you have the means, try that yourself. Otherwise, get someone to bleed it with a high temp brake fluid. Hopefully its not a problem with the clutch slave cylinder, which has been an issue with some other forum members. I did that about 10,000 miles ago and haven't had an issue since. Good luck.

The dealer is a moron. Take it to another dealer for a second opinion. I agree that its either air in the clutch line or possibly the slave cylinder failing

Clutch Master Cylinder

Same thing happened to me about a month ago, 6 months after ownership. I took it to the dealer and told them that that the clutch was sticking. Left the car there so the tech could take it for a test drive. Later that day the service manager called back and said the clutch master cylinder was out. They offered a rental car from Enterprise while the part was being shipped to the dealership. They replaced the clutch master cylinder with no questions asked. When the clutch gets stuck half way, pump it to get it to come back up. Take it to another dealership and have them replace the master cylinder.

Would this be covered under a limited warranty or just extended for a used vehicle?

Take it to Viva Nissan on Montana. They have a decent garage. Always treated me fair. Plus they don't harass you about the MODS

This has happened to me today. Except it was supposedly fixed 6 months ago. They filled it with fluid and said nothing is wrong that they could detect. Yesterday I felt the the same thing with the clutch not returning. I took it in this morning and they said nothing is wrong with the car.

I am currently at work and my pedal won't return at all. Even with pumping. They F'd up. I thought I liked this dealership too.

problem with the clutch

Yep,
They'll practically bl*w you to get the sale but after that the attitude change is dramatic, kinda like marriage....you'll get what you need but have to really work for it, haha.
Thinking out loud again.

The CMC should be covered under the standard 3yr/36K mile warranty as well as the extended warranty through Nissan, yes. If you have a dealer giving you the run around, call Nissan Consumer Affairs, and explain your situation - they can give the dealer a kick in the a$$ for you. You can also try different dealers in your area, if that's an option, before you call NCA.

Unfortunately I'm the second owner and just bought my 2009 this year so they opt me for a limited warranty. I thought I read somewhere that powertrain is covered up to 5 years though.

Ziggyman 05-26-2013 03:59 PM

5 years 60K miles for power train.

Mai-z 05-26-2013 05:35 PM

Mine has been covered no questions asked. Even with the mods.

This happened to me today. The clutch went to the floor this morning but I could still change gears, just the pedal didn't come up as far. When I started the car after work it did the same thing on the way home but then the pedal went back to normal after I stopped at a mail box. It happened to me once before about two months ago. I thought it was because the clutch fluid was down a little so I filled it up back then and had no issues until today. Fluid today is fine. I am going to bleed the clutch tomorrow, however I think its time to order a clutch / flywheel and upgraded csc combo.

I love the car but it has given me a lot more issues than my g35 ever did, I had that car for 7 years and no issue at all. This one so far I have had the steering lock, clutch, fuel starvation issues, uuuugh!

Clutch Issue

It's likely a clutch master cylinder and/or CSC bearing issue. If so, it is a good time to replace/inspect the flywheel, pressure plate, and clutch since the manual transmission will need to be removed to access the CSC bearing.

Another tip is to replace the stock clutch pedal with a aftermarket clutch pedal. See this forum for clutch pedal replacement.

I had my 370Z transmission replaced along with the CSC bearing covered under warranty.
