Transmission Mystery

Hey everyone!

Haven't posted for awhile, but I was going to post my story of a problem I have been having for some time.

About a month ago, I started noticing when I drove my Z that when switching gears, it would slowly start showing some type of struggle putting it into gear. Mainly going from first to second gear, it felt like a clunk when going into 2nd. So as the days progressed, it started becoming more noticable. I had my dad and friend drive my car, (without telling them anything) to see if they noticed anything wrong. Little surprise, they both told me they felt a little bit of struggle between gears, and found the shifting kind of restrictive. I thought maybe it had something to do with the S-mode, but even with the system turned off it was still there.....A couple times I was driving past two local dealers, I asked them to check the car since it was still under warranty and they both said "it's normal". I know my car, and I know this is not normal.

Finally, I got so pissed yesterday that I called my favorite dealer, Earnhardt Nissan. They are really nice and respectful there, willing to listen, and they see more 370zs come through than the other dealers. I asked them to make the first appointment possible. I dropped off my car today and told them to call me when they knew what was wrong. I explained the whole story to them.

I just received a call from them, they went into explaining that their tech was diagnosing the car when he found that the transmission mount is bad. He explained to the advisor that would explain the clunking sound, since it is not properly functioning. Idk what they all said, but it helped reassure me that SOMETHING WAS WRONG, AND IT WASN'T NORMAL. lol.

They said it's covered under warranty, but what sucks is that no dealer in Arizona has the part so they are going to overnight it to their dealer. However, since tomorrow is Saturday, they won't be able to install it till Monday. I'll update you guys when I have it installed, and let you know if it took care of the problem. I know some of you guys have had some sounds and rattling in your transmission, but let's see if this is the reason mine is making such a random sound and "clunk" feeling! Yay. :icon14:

I haven't driven your car to tell you whether your having any abnormal chunkiness but if I think I know what it is all the zs have a clunky transmission and that mount won't fix it.

I hope it will, I just know that its way worse now than what it was about a month ago...
