Central 20 ECU Update and Exhaust manifold released

I hope this isn't a repost:

I know Hunter from BPAuto posted the exhaust manifold in an Exhaust intake thread. I didn't want to steal any thunder so heres the link to his post.

I wasn't sure just where to post this, so I hope the general engine & drivetrain section works.

Central 20, one of the premier Z tuners in Japan, have again broadened their range of tuning parts for the Z34 recently with the development and release of an ECU update and a set of exhaust manifolds for the VQ37VHR engine.

The Central 20 Super Computer is a flash update to the standard ECU that provides several functions. The speed limiter is removed, timing, CVT and eVCT maps are also modified. The result is a increase in torque at the low end and higher peak power. Response is also improved throughout the rev range. The ECU update is available for both manual and auto Z34’s. Price is 94,500 yen for the fully tuned ECU update or just 42,000 yen if you just want the speed limiter removed.

The next product release is the Central 20 High Power Manifolds. These 48.6 mm diameter main pipes lead into a single 60 mm pipe. These are designed to again increase torque and power and are well matched to the other Central 20 exhaust components.

Wow, $1,000 for the ECU update? That car looks sweet in the first picture.

it's not an ecu update...it's a super computer update....

That's what it says in the article: flash update to the standard ECU

Central looks to have the best oil cooler to date...at a price.

Man that's a ton of money for something that a local tuner could do for a fraction of the cost.

The tuner that did my LSx motor added a dual tune (87/93 octane), removed speed/rev limits, bumped timing, firmed up the transmission line pressure, added a torque converter lock-out function, etc....for $150

By the time I get my car and break everything in, hopefully the price will be more in the range I'd like to spend for a tune. I understand that a new product will be more expensive when it comes out, but Austin is a hotspot for tuners, and there are some local guys that are wizards when it comes to tuning. I think I'll turn the keys over to them.

Overpriced, unnecessary. Tune with osiris will gain you more for half the price.

Oil cooler shouldn't cost more than 380 dollars.

Manifold looks great

Manifold wrapped

Stumped upon their wrapped manifold pic and thought I would share

I don't think the 370 can pull off the "smile" front grille. Actually, I hate that front grille! Ugh.... but that's just my opinion.

That's an interesting wrap. Looks like a weird mix of metal and ceramic...

the original post says "CVT and eVCT maps are also modified". What are CVT and eVCT? I Googled these terms and it points back to this article and a few others that are not referring to cars.

Thanks.

I agree 100% with you. I also think so far with all the aftermarket rear and front bumpers nothing really makes me want them a lot there might be a couple OKAY ones but nothing special yet  Hope this changes soon.

First off you guys do understand Japan product come with a premium. Not because they are superior generally speaking, but because they have such limited market there. Ohio has more cars on the road than Japan does. People in my income bracket don't own cars there, it would be impossible to afford. So the people that own cars there have generally speaking larger than average incomes. The market is very small, and they import most materials, so the products made are usually very very low production runs, under 100 units. So they have to charge higher than normal prices to remain profitable.

It is highly unlikely that they designed the software to tune the ECU. I would hazard to guess they are using the Techtom software like Technosquare, AAM, etc use and are just making a base tune using that software.
