The first time only warning I got was the pedal didn't immediately pop back up once, Then a few months later it just went out when I pressed the clutch pedal down get rolling. 2nd time, I felt the clutch pedal sinking with each press so I limped it home and it died in the garage. |
Extended warranty Nissan offers doesn't cover CSC failure.

Here's the brochure for the infiniti elite care. TinyUpload.com - best file hosting solution, with no limits, totaly free See page 9/16, look for item #'s 30610, 30620. I can't imagine nissan's extended warranty being any different. |

That pic is awesome except few will know what a CSC is, even if they drive a manual. I'd change that to Clutch Slave Failure (2 lines).

they told my extended warranty they offer is a better choice than Nissan certification, so I followed. Its called "fist extended service corporation" which has a rating of solid 1 star at any review website you can google for! |
^^So you got a third party extended warranty? If so, then terms will vary for sure.
Edit: Really what i'm bothered by is why this isn't covered under powertrain. The clutch is part of the transmission and the clutch pedal is part of the clutch. I'd love to know what possible reason nissan NA can give why this isn't a covered part. BS IMO. |

As for Nissan consumer affairs (CA representative) - decision to approve the warranty coverage of this part is up to them. In my case they decided not to cover it and also saying its first time they hear of this part failure. I changed to Zspeed HD cylinder and installed it at Z car garage, Also I made a page to raise awareness of the problem: https://www.facebook.com/Nissan-Conc...4563461609835/ |

I guess they'll use any excuse to weasel out of paying a claim. I suppose a failed timing chain can also be considered wear and tear yet they're supposed to last the life of the car (in this application, some cars you do have to periodically replace the timing *belt*). Just about anything can be considered wear/tear. Back in feb of this year we bought a $1300 ariens snow blower. Getting the unit ready for winter few weeks ago I spotted an oil leak from the crank case cover. Not all ariens dealers do warranty work if the unit wasn't purchased from them. Fine. Found a shop that does. The cause of the oil leak was loose crank case cover bolts (several I suspect). They call up to let me know the repair is done and because it's not covered under warranty I'll have to pay for the repair. Ok. I drove over there and them point out to me exactly what was tightened. We got into a debate over how that could possibly not be a warranty issue. The defect was due to poor workmanship in assembly of the engine. Eventually they agreed to waive charges just to get me out of there. Fine. I was bothered by this so called the manufacturer when I got home. After they spoke with the shop, it was confirmed this was indeed a warranty repair. My guess is the shop was trying to double dip. Get their warranty reimbursement and have the customer pay. In the end, the repair cost nothing and neither did the pickup/drop off fee which I was fully prepared to pay. To add insult to injury, when they dropped it off, I ran it for a bit only to find a thin line of oil still present. I didn't sign off on it and it went back to the shop. They cleaned it up good this time and ran it for an extended length of time. In addition the shop mgr inspected it (or so they say) before they called me to say it's ready to go. So not only did they get caught red handed in the cookie jar, they had to absorb two transports. I'm still bothered by this but am really not surprised. If I was less knowledgeable about all this the fees would be paid and I would be ecstatic to have my blower back (as it's snowing right now and 2-8" are promised around here). PS. I wonder if a decal of the above could be made. I bet some would be willing to stick it on their car. |
