Q8Y_Drifter,
Thanks for posting up those pics!

Prosport Gauges 09-09-2010 03:02 PM

My 370z does not have this!

Dustin@Z1 09-10-2010 02:51 PM

Yeah, its only on certain NONE-USDM models.

Nissan is playing games with everyone. Canadian NISMO's get Navi and Middle Eastern 370z get an oil cooler.

The world is a big place. Lots of other markets get different equipment (and have different customer preferences) than ours. It's not just Nissan..

I guess Nissan thought we preferred our cars to over heat and go into limp mode.

That's an over-reaction in the US market. It just doesn't happen on the street (unless you drive like a total A$$hole). Wanna track your car? get a cooler.

Just an FYI, the oil cooler above circulates coolant as previously mentioned to warm the oil when it's cold and cool it down when it's hot. It's not very efficient though and a separate aftermarket oil cooler does a much better job at it.

The hard lines go all the way to the heater pipe on the driver's side engine head. The other outlet for the cooler goes to another water pipe located right under the exhaust port on piston #6 on the driver's side engine block.

As far as which models got it, it comes on all VQ35DE although the pipe routing is different. It does not come on the VQ35HR and VQ37VHR in the US regardless of the model year. It DID however come pre-installed from factory to all G35's, G37's and 370Z's shipped to the Middle East and apparently Australia as well. I'm assuming there's more locations yet to be known.

The same oil cooler is also installed on all AWD G35's and G37's regardless of location.

Anyhow, below is a diagram from the FSM showing the routing of the pipes. This is on an HR which is identical to a VHR.
^^ great info and pics, thanks. +1 rep

So, the question now is will the dealers order and install one and keep warranty in tact. I still want something, but really do not want to void warranty just yet....

Dustin@Z1 09-11-2010 08:54 AM

Hard to tell. I will tell you this. Any item that comes from out of the country...either from Japan, Europe or Canada for a Nissan Dealership is channeled thru Nissan Motorsports.

Based on my experience it will take a LONG time to get. Some of these obscure parts are nearly impossible due to the various red tape and bureaucracy of NNA and Nissan Motorsports. If you want to get it faster than 6~8 weeks (or MORE) would personally recommend getting in contact with a dealership overseas and order it directly.

This will cost a bit more but will get you the parts alot quicker.

I currently have a customer looking for the JDM Headlight Sprayers for the 370z. I have been beating these guys up for weeks about a response on prices and availability with no luck.

OP,
Take a look at your rear diff cover. Is it finned and not smooth?

dude you're in Kuwait, we have finned diffs for the Z's and G's from factory (and maybe even other cars). Not the diff cover but the diff housing itself is finned. Here's a pic on my G35 sedan. US Z's and G's have a smooth diff with no fins.

That is what Nismo calls their NISMO DIFF COVER for the 370z/350z. It is ONLY available in the middle eastern markets and comes factory over there.

I heard rumors in the past that it was a factory part for you guys, but I could never get a clean cut answer. This confirms it in my mind.

Thanks guys!

Actually in Canada we cannot even order the nismo... Our 40th can have a nav though

Q8y_drifter,

Curious as to whether you can post the diagram with the radiator, and if you know the radiator fluid capacity specs? In Japan they have aftermarket radiators for our 370Z that are much larger and they tout them for better cooling. So I am wondering whether you have a larger factory radiator too? Thanks, and a great post on your part! rep point sent; rep point to OP too.

That's actually not the cover, but the diff casing that's finned. I haven't seen it used anywhere except in the ME spec Nissans.

The middle east spec Z's and G's are said to come with larger radiators but I can't seem to find any specific info regarding size or capacity. The FSM I have is actually US spec. I'm trying to get my hands on a ME spec FSM with no luck. I don't even know if we have a specific FSM for the ME.

Anyhow, the user manual states that the capacity for the cooling system is 9.6L/8.5qts plus 0.8L/0.75qts for the reservoir. This is for the VHR engine. The HR is slightly less.

Another interesting piece we have is a factory automatic transmission oil cooler (driver's side).

Why does none of this surprise me any longer? It would be nice if Nissan would at least provide an avenue to purchase these parts in the US. The automatic transmission cooler is simply a great accessory for increasing the life of an automatic transmission. I'm sure Nissan's US PR department is past its quota of bullsh!t reasons for not having these items on US models. Thanks for the info and pic.

Vegitto-kun 09-15-2010 05:29 AM

My dif case is finned too.

BGTV8 09-15-2010 05:48 AM

Guys, the "cooler" is also fitted to OZ-spec Z34, and I can tell you it does not provide any coooling. I track my Z34 regualrly and after 2-3 laps on the first track day, it would drop into oil-temp limp-home. I fitted a Stillen oil cooler, now I don't have these problems.

If you are concerned at oil-temps, fit a proper cooler as the PoS pretend cooler discovered at the top of this thread will provide marginal benefit at best .................

On the subject of finned diff covers, I have the NISMO finned cover and my viscous coupling LSD has now gone out to lunch and is not coming back (Quaife ATB differential now on order). My vehcile has covered just over 30,000 klics and 7 track days now ..... at the end of the day, Mr Nissan has engineered a damn fine daily driver, but it ain't a track day weapon by any stretch. Mind you, nit many cars actually are until they;ve had a few grand tipped into them.

docaam 10-28-2010 04:21 AM

are US spec Z comes with transmission coolers? as I have one on mine?

Q8y_drifter 10-28-2010 07:12 AM

do you have a picture? you sure it's not the power steering fluid cooler?

docaam 10-28-2010 07:44 AM

yeah its in the pic below the one in lower left corner?

http://www.enginebasics.com/Engine%2...oilcooler6.jpg

Q8y_drifter 10-28-2010 07:54 AM

That's the power steering fluid cooler. All cars have that.

docaam 10-28-2010 08:03 AM

maa bad then, a guy told me when i was ordering GTM oil cooler that this is the transmission cooler so you dont need it, and the worst I trusted him lol

Q8y_drifter 10-28-2010 08:34 AM

Take a look at page 4. The cooler on the right is the factory trans oil cooler. I replaced it with a larger Setrab 19 row cooler

Dustin@Z1 10-29-2010 08:25 AM

Hahah...nice. I like how one of our pics have found its way onto another site for usage.

I actually spoke to a Nissan Engineer the other day regarding these difference between the various markets. He explained to me that there are really three markets that Nissan designs and builds vehicles for.

1. US Market
2. European/Japanese Markets
3. Middle Eastern Market

He claimed that the European markets were notorious on brakes while the Middle Eastern Markets were notorious on High Diff and Oil Temps. This obviously confirms what has been discussed here.

Just out of curiousity...do you guys also have the Rear Fog Light as well on your 370z's in Kuwait? I am just curious to see what other options and features we installed from Nissan.

Q8y_drifter 10-29-2010 09:21 AM

I don't think so. I've only seen a handful of Z34's here (the Z33 was around $42,000 and now the Z34 freakin cost $58,000+ at the dealer!)

docaam do they come with the fog light?

BTW, I saw this Z33 HR from a French forum. It has the same finned diff housing we have as well as the sandwich plate oil cooler from factory. Idk but I think the euro market got them too.

BTW, we also have a different radiator reservoir. Here's a pic of mine.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...445800x600.jpg

I don't know whats different about it other than the cap :/

yes , the rear fog light comes as standard

the 19" rays wheels also as standard (we don't have the 18")

+ the sport package (big breaks, front under chin and rear spoiler all are standard)

yet, we'll never get the HDD feature you have with you nav system

Q8y_drifter 10-30-2010 03:19 AM

Yeah the HDD really bugs me. I wanna convert mine to HDD but dunno where to start :/

docaam 10-30-2010 12:13 PM

the ones in UAE with GCC specs are with rear fog light and front headlamp washers and non HDD system, that only in Patrol

If you dont do spirited driving all the time and no plans of doing track days you should be fine with the factory cooler. But if you still want to have your aftermarket oil cooler. Take off the factory oil cooler.

Elmo370z 06-16-2014 01:51 PM

Zman1910 your actually correct

rlhotka 06-16-2014 03:12 PM

And do what with the lines? Someone was saying you could piggyback it? Wouldn't be fun blocking off behind cylinder #6.

quickboat 06-16-2014 08:14 PM

I think I would piggy back them if possible.

I got the piece together kit from race parts wholesale with a thermo sandwich plate, so just no confirmation if I can use the kit or not.
