We don't have smog tests in my city, but they do in Austin which is 10 minutes away. I'm sure I'll have to deal with that in a couple of years.

I'm thinking about fabbing up my own test pipes with flanges. The good thing about the 370 is that you can bolt up the stock converters fairly easily, so when the sniffer tests start in my area, I'll just bolt up the stockers for the day.

Yes, here in CA, after 5 years or so, will require smog check when the renewing the registration. They check both sniffer and visual. If you pass sniffer with HFC, you won't pass visual.

Ohio dropped their smog test but it looks like it may be on it's way back. Of course there is a big argument about the cost to the less fortunate. For those, if their car looks to be trying out for one of those WWII navel battle scenes while laying a trail of smoke down the highway it's supposed to be ok.

If your vehicle is six years old or newer, you will be charged an annual smog abatement fee in California when you register your vehicle, rather than being required to provide smog certification. The longest I have ever owned a new car is about 4 years, I have never had to get a Ca. smog test, so I'm not worried about the 370z one bit. I wont need to smog it until 2015, providing I still have the car then.

Wussy. My 2000 Camaro was running no cats, no exhaust, dumped right under the drivers seat. Smells good :)
