Walmart $21.00 5qt jugs Mobil1 5W30 on sale.

The Castrol products have shown very good results in the used oil analysis comparisons.

One of my favorite oils is Castrol Syntec 5W-30 but I've found the amount I change oil it's a waste of money. I use Castrol 10W-30 GTX.

I found that Mobile 1 is too thin of a oil at our oil temps and will shear far too easily and if you run the car at high RPM's, you will loose oil with the Nissan VQ engines. Especially if you use the SRM all the time and downshift to slow down, instead of using the brakes.

Big fan of Castrol product, but I am starting to stay away from them since they are a BP product

edge

I have been running castrol in Nissan's since my 1st one in 1984 (that one had just shy of 300k mi. ) when I sold it. I have never had any problems with the motors in my cars and the couple that I have rebuilt showed minimal wear. I am running edge 5w30 in my 09 NISMO and have not used any oil to this point 2k mi since last change.

Just threw some in my pick up truck. The engine is a lot quieter. Saw a video on youtube that did dyno runs with castrol edge, royal purple and I think mobil 1 and another I never heard of. The 1 I never heard of produced the highest hp numbers and the edge and RP were the same and the last was way lower. Ehey. Gonna go amsoil next time but the castrol is so readily available. Seems like good stuff.

300 miles and loving castrol edge. Engine is extremely quiet in cruising, yet when you are at WOT. Engine sound is louder but deeper. It seriously cuts that high rev scream that makes people call the car engine sound "Unrefined". So far it seems as I'm getting 1 extra mpg city and 2 extra mpg highway.

I just put this in Thursday. I think it quiets down some of the vibration in the motor also.

:iagree: I used to use Mobil 1 in my turbo S2000 and the engine heat would burn it quick enough that I'd have to add oil every 2-3 days of normal daily driving. Once I switched to Castrol GTX , It held up enough to the heat that I only needed to add 1 time per week.

Talk about a blast from the past (8 years ago) lol

I no longer race the Z every other weekend, nor have a supercharger. I now have a automatic, a newer Z that hasn't reached a oil temp of 110C yet.

I will be using Castrol 5W-30 Synthetic, since I will be running the full 8,000 km between oil changes.

Time changes many things
