i check coolant level on my Z on a regular basis, and it's been 3yrs+ no need to add.
the coolant in the Z is some special formula they started using that is suppose to last like 7yrs or something without needing drain/fill. |

my z came with blue coolant. specially formulated for longer duration so i thought i read. next time i see my Z i shall check the manual again. |
Is this extended life coolant code named "FL22"? On my Rx8, the manual does say something about a factory-filled long life coolant that Mazda calls "FL22". The manual says you don't have to change your coolant for the first 48 months too. Thereafter, its once every 2 years. There are FL22 stickers on the radiator cap or on the reservoir tank to tell you its long-life coolant. Just a fancy code I guess... In reality, I think its just a 50-50 pre-mix.

anyway, mr.jar (member here) confirmed wat i read in the owner's manual. 7yrs or 105k miles for the first change. i forgot to look in the manual when i turned the tires a few weeks back. my car's in hibernation with cover on so kind of a hassle to pull out just the owner's manual from inside.

I'm noticing my engine temperature is running higher than normal. Now it is 105° here, outside temperature. I can't see the level marks in the tank, never have been since I've owned the car. It looks to me as if it could be emptied but I can't see the levels properly. I just shut off my engine picking up my coolant now from my storage and as the car sits it's almost at three clicks to the highest temperature. Of course that's freaking me the hell out.

Coolant usage?

Sounds like you have a coolant leak, causing your car to run low on coolant, suck in air, and overheat. You’re going to need to fix the leak and then refill and bleed the system. Edit: I see u edited the original post.. if your car isn’t overheating, you might just be able to add some coolant without rebleedimg the system. Still check for leaks tho Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
