Quaife LSD
Hey guys,
I have searched around but couldn't find anything really. Is there a Quaife LSD for the 370Z/G37 pumpkins? Specifically looking for a Quaife to drop into a base pumpkin. Will the 350Z Quaife work? Thanks! John |
check out the z1motorsports site they have it you need the qd11f for a 6speed, if you have a base you won't need any extra axles. you may wan't to get new bearings, seals, a shimpack and cross your fingers that you don't have to adjust the pinion height. have a good rear-end shop install it.
|
Thanks man.
Hmm, wonder why it isn't on Quaife's website. Wonder if it's the same unit as the 350Z one. On Quaife's website, the one listed for a 350Z 6MT with open diff. is QDF11L. |
yeah it's the same one

Can anyone who has installed or had a Quaife LSD installed comment on their experience with it? Did this aforementioned items need to be addressed? i.e. bearings, seals, shimpack, pinion height? I live in Fairbanks Alaska and will be driving my Z year round :) I have a base touring and thinking an LSD might do me some good. Thanks |
Bump!

I now know a good bit on what has to be done to install a LSD (well mine anyways) being I had one done but I'd feel alot better if they handled the answers. |
I just ordered my Quaife LSD! I have the base model and did not buy anything except the differential unit itself. Ill post more when i get it installed.
Im currently doing some research on clutch/flywheel for my upcoming FI project. Getting the car ready! |

Just ordered mine
|
i had to replace my seals and reshim the backlash with different size shims new bearings also, and some grey rtv silicone for the cover. hope your pinoin height doesnt change or you will need to replace the seals, bearings, shims, crush sleeve and nut to adjust the pinion height.

You will have to remove the seals for the install and there basically impossible to remove without damaging. Being you have a 2011 (pending mileage) your bearings should be ok.
Some LSD require shims. But my OSG didn't to do the tight tolerences they build them to. I can't comment on the pinoin height. But being I had a base model Z I did require different stub axle. Different LSD require different needs. |
i nstalled the quaife and really you may need shims any time you replace the bearings sometimes you get lucky and stuf fits the same why it did when you took it out and sometimes you don't. Also SPOHN you have them backwards you don't need to take the seals out but you will have to replace the bearings
|
^ that's correct. I always get that backwards. The side bearings need replaced.
|
Nice! thanks for the info guys. Still waiting for mine, not even a tracking number yet.
