I know...
But my real point is that Nissan has a screwed up product. It shouldn't be this way in the first place. But since it is, they need to address it. I shouldn't have to spend an extra ~$1k out of my own pocket to fix THEIR mistake. |

if the oil temp is the REAL culprit, only an oil cooler offered at no charge by nissan would suffice to remedy the problem. plus they need to come standard from that point on. OR, they can just ignore it and save $$. I'd put my $$ on the third!

The weather is cool and my oil temps didn't hit 200F on the way home from work. If it's cutting power, then I can feel it after 180F. Something tells me it's not really oil temps because 180-220F is the norm, and the car simply feels sluggish despite cooler ambient temps. I didn't feel lag, but I've been giving it more throttle than usual to get it going. Even a G37 7AT can out accelerate me through an intersection as I try to get it going in 1st. O_o
Could it be gasoline? I've been filling up my car at Philips and Conoco. We used to have BP, but it's not around anymore. QuikTrip has ethanol. I cannot confirm the other two, but I was told that there isn't any ethanol. :dunno: Oil change next week, so if it keeps going like this I'm going to drop it off and have the techs put some miles on it. [EDIT] Interesting how exactly a year ago I never really complained about this issue other than the car lacking a bit of torque down low. It was bad this summer, and that's when I noticed it and thought it was normal. |
I don't think it's gas... I have tried 2 fill-ups in a row at 4 different places and made note of the results. I mostly use Sunoco now though.

Can someone experiment by adding a few ltr of 'racing fuel' and see the results? |

I could still try it for fun... I don't know how much it is, but the Sunoco I fill up at has it. Would be an interesting experiment I guess. I'd be willing to spend $20 or something on it. I'm going out of town this weekend, so I'll try that next week. I'll run my tank very low and just put in racing fuel. |
Ah, so you plan to do a long drive with the Z? It's a good chance to give it some extended drives. Once it gets sluggish, turn off and cool down for a few minutes and start her back up. I'm pretty sure things will be normal again for awhile. [shrugs]
