so please help me out if which one is a good one.. i think takeda is the cheapest one.. next the injen and the most expensive one is the stillen.. so friends give some idea please!! thanks!!

I like either the Stillen or Injen.

thegraylady 04-19-2010 12:54 PM

stillen

takeda sucks and you lose power with it. i went stillen on my car totally worth the time.

Drop in a couple of K&N air filters and use the money you save to go towards a cbe.

you guys and your K&N filter mafia!:rofl2:

none - save your money for a TT kit.

I see it this way. The G3's are long tubes with a couple of bends. That increases resistance to air flow as one other member with a knowledge of fluid dynamics stated in another thread. But what the G3 does have are two rather large filters to gulp in the air compared to the stock air filters. I'll stick with the shorter factory CAI with K&N drop ins. If I do a mod it will be a ram air like Mod Shack's - increase the delta P i.e. high pressure on intake inlet and low pressure (vacuum) in the cylinder (downstroke on intake cycle) = more air to burn more fuel = more HP. And if I really want gobs more air, I'll install larger diameter TB's. Hmm, then I would need to polish/port heads and ............... Nope. Drop ins are fine for my driving needs.:driving:

the only thing is that the stillen may be longer but the air has a much smoother course into the engine compared to the stock unit which has turbulence all over the place in it. Don't throw your fluid dynamics at people like some kind of jack@$$ with a PHD in buisness that makes people call him DR. Dickface. The factory accordion section, several changes in pipe shape/cross sectional area, and the sharp transition from the open air space in the intake box, to the maf tubes, without sufficient volume to be used as a zero vacuum plenum, leave a lot on the table induction wise. Granted it's better than most stock air boxes but the size of the intake passage in the core support speaks for itself.

At the same time don't pretend the stillen pieces are without flaws either. The slip fit weld at the filter side should have been properly tapered (or a smooth radius preferred) rather than leaving that edge inside the tube. That coupled w/ the fact that there are no real mounting system for the filters and over the long term the can get holes rubbed in them from the factory mounting brackets in the area as the filters bounce around.

I will vote for the K&N drop ins to get you by until you go forced induction ;)

A drop-in might be all well and good, but you just can't duplicate the amazing sound that an open element intake like Stillen or Injen gives you. I would have paid $500 for it even if there was no HP gains....just for the sound!
