Nissport oil pressure gauge adapter
Anyone used this before?
Price is a lot steeper than I would like, but they seem to be the only game in town. Any alternatives? I want to install a warning light for low pressure before I install an oil cooler. Thanks NISsport Oil Pressure Adapter |
This is what I used:
NISMO Oil Tee Adapter for Oil Pressure Gauge - performance parts By the way, the 370Z already has a warning light for low pressure. I bought the adapter to add an oil pressure gauge. |
Just so you guys know you can buy a one piece brass fitting from your local hardware store that will work better and cost much less... The thread sizes are all 1/8-27 npt so just get the one male two female fitting in the same configuration as the nismo piece, hell print out that photo and ask the store attendant for help. in and out in 5 minutes but be prepared to fork out a whole 4 bucks.

The stock gauge is BSPT, not NPT, slightly different. I would rather do it right than to have a leak at the track
|
Another option ($20) with proper BSP threads for the car and OEM sender. NPT threads for typical Pressure gauge sender threads
Adapters and Bushings: Adapter - 1/8 BSP Male x 1/8BSP Female and 1/8 NPT Female (2) - egauges.com http://www.egauges.com/images/VDO/OTOD.jpg |
hi, isnt that bsp? i thought bspt is different than bsp something it being tapered
|
Has somebody done DIY for aftermarket oil pressure gauge?
|
one things for damn sure I'll be retapping that bich for NPT when i add one as straight thread doesn't seal unless you dope the crap out of it. Why the hell would nissan even use it? the thread form on tappered thread pinches off as you screw it in creating a seal that is air tight. straight thread can't do this so you need to put teflon tape or pipe dope on it to make it seal FYI.

How tight should you install a NPT fitting? |
Anyone have a picture of where the stock pressure sender is?

Mod,
It is the silver one. The brass one is the temperature sensor. |
