Or, one minute to remove an oil filter plus time to remove base pan, wipe base pan clean, remove old gasket or sealant from base pan cover and bottom of engine mating surface, replace gasket or apply sealant, install base pan and torque bolts. And, you're no further ahead doing it this way.
