Its about time ...

I read over a couple post on oil, and I'm doing my first oil change tomorrow. Just want to confirm, do I really need Nissan Ester oild for the first 5000 miles or no ?? is Mobil 1 ok ?? How about Mobil 1 oil filter or K&N or do I have to use Nissan oil filter also? Sorry guys, I'm a noob, love this car and wants it to last !!! :happydance:

Basically ANY API certified off shelf 5w30 oil will do the job. If you're planning on using Synthetic, just wait after 3-5000 miles. As for filter, I used K&N and Purolator Pure 1. They are both good. But Purolator Puro 1 is cheaper, easy to find at your nearest auto shop and slightly larger (more capacity).

Here's a thread of mine if you need any idea what's involved: http://www.the370z.com/diy-section-d...es-inside.html

Hey, AK! Greetings, man. Adding to your reply, the Pureone's not only less expensive & larger, but it's also BETTER--according to an engineer that posted something here (I haven't been able to find that post again!). So, filter-wise, it's Pureone, guy!

Pssssst... You don't have to wait 3,000 - 5,000 miles to switch to synthetic. In fact, with many cars synthetic is the factory fill...

Do u guys usually change oil after the 1st 1000 miles ?? mine is at 2000 and still running, do I have to change oil now or just wait to 3000 and do synthetic at once ??

I don't understand why people change at 500, 1200, 1354, 2000, 2500mi etc. when there is no mention in the book about doing your first oil change any sooner than the recommended 3750mi intervals. I get it the notion is that while braking in a new engine you might get metal particles in your oil. But if it were really that much of an issue don't you think it would be mentioned in the manual? I've thought about posting this but I didn't want to start ANOTHER oil thread. And search SUCKS!!!

 not another oil thread....

Man, you're all about that engineer...hehe. You've been mentioning this person throughout multiple threads now.
