bumblez did you go to a dealership in richmond? if thats the case i might just drive down there and get it fixed

In for TSB

I'm surprised that dealers don't lurk on the forums and try to get people to come into there dealership to replace things like this. Obviously people are having problems with ECU's, Hatches, etc. Don't they get reimbursed from Nissan for the warranty work they do? Everytime I've ever taken a car into a dealer with an issue, they all play dumb to the problem, but if they were just a little more in tune with their car community, it sure would be great customer relations, and it would get people to their dealership.

Please get the word out as there are alot of guys on this forum with the high pitch ringing noise problem and they would die for this fix Can't believe its fixed lol, btw does anyone know what is differend about the new ECU that makes the ringing sound go away?? - Ty |
I hate to bump a semi-old thread like this, but has anyone else had luck getting their ECU replaced?
I just bought my 370 a couple of weeks ago, and noticed the high pitch noise this past week. A quick Google search found this thread and a few others, and I'm fairly certain my car has the same problem. I've got an appointment next week to check out my hatch springs, so I'll probably bring up the high pitch whine then too. Any advice for bringing this up? As in, should I go ahead and tell them what I've read online about ECUs with B serials, or just play dumb and see what they say? |
My local Nissan/Infiniti dealers suck bawls. When I bring up something about TSB, they go... "What's a TSB? What's that?" Thus, I only take my car to trusty Riverside Infiniti or Performance Nissan. Seriously, most dealers suck major bawls when it comes to these kind of things.

Any news on a TSB release?

sorry for reviving an old post. I got my Z about 2 weeks ago and noticed the high pitch noise problem. The dude at the dealership called the "high authorities" and they have admitted the high pitch ECU problem. What's strange is that the "high authorities" have told the technician that the ECU ending with A are malfunction and the ones ending with B are the newer revised ones and should fix the problem. Currently a "B" version is ordered...and leaving me all confused about this A and B issue.
Again, sorry for bringing up this topic again |
FWIW, I had the high pitched noise and it's been gone for about 4 months now. My 'A' ECU must have evolved into a 'B' ECU. Weird.

ECU High pitch sound!
ECU High pitch sound,
What's the latest on this has this been fixed! Any bulletin numbers or factory recalls? Thanks Alex |
I took my Z to the dealership. The first thing they wanted to do is to know what I'm talking about so I had the technician sat in my car and listen for the high pitch noise. The technician was not able to hear the high pitch sound, so they had their front desk lady sat in my car, and she said she was able to hear it. I told the dude something like "I read this sound is caused by the ECU, if you call your factory rep or support or something, they should be able to tell you what to do." So the technician called and the other line confirmed the issue and authorized the technician to order me a new ECU. (Upon until this point, my car was not even driven into their shop, the tech did not even open up the hood)
After exactly a week, the ECU came and I brought the car in, the tech installed the new ECU and the high pitch noise is gone. |
