MAIN and Connecting Rod Bearings

Why is it so difficult to get main bearings and connecting rod bearings for the 370z. Why is a pair off connecting rod bearings 50+ dollars?

What are the drwbacks of using after market KING bearings? It seems to be a one set fit all deal.
