7AT FMS Leak?
I sourced a VR30 with 60k on it and inspected everything in the bellhousing prior to install. I was all bone dry like the 104k mile unit I removed so I figured on not disturbing anything.
Fast forward 1,500 miles and I have AT fluid dripping off the bolted connection between the bellhousing and transmission. It's not leaking down from anywhere above the leak site as both sides of the trans. are dry. Today I pulled the flex plate inspection cover (lowest point of the bellhousing) and its bone dry. I sent a paper towel on a coat hanger up the inside of the bellhousing several times and comes back bone dry. Physics and gravity says the lowest point or somewhere along the way from the rear of the bellhousing (leak site) should be getting wet as well especially considering there's enough fluid to make a 3" puddle on the floor under it when sitting for 3 weeks. It's not like there's a gap between the bellhousing and trans. case that would allow all of the leaking fluid to escape without some getting by. Has anyone experienced a FMS leak leaking in this manner? Thanks for any insight you can lend. :tiphat: |
