Manual Transmission Not Going Into Gear
I have a 2016 Nismo with about 10k miles. I went to take it out for the first time this year, and it started up just fine, but it wouldn’t go into any gears. CMC is full, clutch pedal feels fine and returns when I press it. No leaks under the car. I have the RJM clutch pedal if that matters, but that has been on since I bought the car. Any thoughts?

1.CMC is bypassing/failed?
2.Slave Cylinder is seized/not extending far enough? |
I drive my Z once every 2 weeks, and I have noticed it is a bit harder to get into gear when cold and initial start up, but does get easier as it warms up.
1. Does it go into gear when the car is off? 2. Have you tried letting the car warm up and tried again? 3. This may be a long shot, but can work. Lean forward and slam backwards towards the seat while in neutral and try to have the car roll back SAFELY a little bit, and then see if it goes into gear. 4. Do you still have the OEM CSC on the car? |
So my experience tells me that the clutch pilot bearing is somehow worn. In the Nismo series the pilot bearing can lose roller pins or they seize up if it dries out. Kind of odd as mileage is so low. It sounds like water got inside the bell housing. If car is off the ground and in neutral start the engine and see if rear wheels spin. If so then I would suspect the pilot bearing. Unfortunately this requires removal of the transmission and clutch to replace. Run this theory by another mechanic to see what he/she thinks. Hope that helps.
