Deceleration Vibration
I did a quick forum search and I did get some results, but didn't find a definative answer. (close)
Over the winter I had Transmission off. So drive shaft was off. 100% sure Drive shaft was installed in factory bolt positions. I installed Vibra-Technics rubber enigne mounts. I also had previously installed Torque solutions Poly transmission mout, Installed solid bushings in shifter control arm. Decelerating from high speeds 80mph, 100mph and around there, I get a vibration/noise and a feel like a "backdrag". New tires also installed and definately not coming from wheels. Alignement was also done. I am leaning towards one of the new mounts. More so the stiffer poly transmission mount. Since I had already had installed the Poly tranny mount, I didn't get an opportunity to match set with engine mounts. so my question is: Which mount is more suspect of causing this type of NVH? By mixing the two different brands/types, is that my real issue? Ultimately, I think I will buy the matching Vibra-Technics rubber transmission mount (just to be matched) and eliminate any type of defelection. https://www.vibra-technics.com/nissa...t_complete_kit TIA zz |
The Z is sensitive to the transmission mounts. People have used solid motor mounts and the oem tranny mount with no issues. Changed the tranny mount to a stiffer one, and got a lot of NVH.

My Torque Solution Billet Aluminum Transmission Mount with 75A Durometer Urethane took some time to break in as upon installation there was heavy vibration throughout the rev-range. After about a month or so the vibration dampened and the NVH was much improved, not stock like but better. However the main holding bolt ended up backing out unknowingly after about a year and caused weird noises upon start up and cold operation that took me a while to track down. I ended up swapping back to the stock piece, repaired the TS mount & lock tightened the main bolt and sold it.

I think it is the gear backlash that I feel and hear upon releasing throttle and coasting in gear. Interesting about the Torque solution mount. When I got mine that center bolt was almost back right out and loose. I e-mailed TS and asked about the tourque of that screw and it was only 80 in.lb. I did apply some blue locktite before I torqued it. Otherwise nothing holding it in positively. zz |
