Engine knocking/ticking/clunking sound
Hey guys, I'm hoping one of you might be able to help diagnose this. I'm working from home every day until Sunday so I don't have the option of going to the mechanic just yet.
This issue started fairly recently, and it doesn't happen all the time. Sometimes it'll start right after I turn the car on, sometimes it'll start once I've been driving a bit. It's intermittent when it starts and doesnt usually last more than 10 seconds to a minute at a time before it subsides, but it's LOUD EDIT: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1R0L...ew?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/1XSN...ew?usp=sharing |
Alright, I thought I uploaded the videos of the sound but they don't seem to be posting?

you can get a hose, one end to your ear the other end to different points of the engine to try and find where the noise is coming from. sounds bad but could be just a pulley
|
Kinda Sounds like a VTC sprocket. It may be a galley gasket issue. Check your oil and oil pressure. It also could be the belt tensioner slapping. Replace the belt and tensioner if it is. You are going to need to find it. It could be a rod bearing but if they have issues they knock all the time or under load.

Sounds like you're able to drive fine with it like that right? Like it's not doing that at 4k rpm+?
Sounds like what the guy above said, some loose pulley or MAYYYYYBE rod knock but it really doesn't seem like rod knock to me |
The videos won't play.
I agree with what Spooler says. Any results? |
