Just take it easy on 5th gear if you can. You probably don't need to be slamming into 5th anyway. But yeah budget for a replacement while they're still around. Check out Liberty Gears if you want to build it (and spend $$$ lol).

Mine has done it since about 20K miles. I demonstrated it to the dealer and they wouldn't warranty it.

Since the new Z uses a carryover trans from the 370Z (but with better 1-2 synchros), it should be around for a long time if it’s a drop in replacement.

Yeah I don't know whether they will just change up the bell housing or what. Hopefully you're right and it will continue to be a drop in replacement.

Not sure if it will fit. The VR30 swap required some modifications to make it fit with the current 370z manual trans.

Slept on this last night....
so the decision is to wait till the end of the track season to replace it.
reasons:
-- Road Atlanta only track I do that needs 5th. all others are 4th. (AMP/Barber)
-- time to budget for it.
-- then after the season, no rush to get it in to be done...
-- as JARblue mention, check out Liberty Gears ,if learned never to say never

Thanks all in helping educate me, always learning and trying...
