Z1 diff cover

I was about to order a Z1 diff cover but I have recently heard from a number of people that their Z1 high capacity covers have failed, or broke.

They said it may have been a bad batch as some people have run them for a while without issues.

Can anyone else share their experience on the Z1 covers? Do they break commonly?

I also have the option for the high capacity cover of the GTEK brand which I can get locally in Australia, but it is like 2x the cost of the Z1 cover shipped to me.

I have the Z1 diff cover. Had it on for about 5 yrs now. Haven't had any problems. i also have a Bell diff brace too.

Any single stud cover will break if your launching at the track. I can see them breaking on the street if you have zero empathy.

I plan on replacing my Z1 cover with the Pathfinder conversion from GKtech.

Witnessed an NA 350z on drag radials grenade last saturday at the track. Not sure how the hell mine survived so long doing the same thing with way more power.

Ahh yea, they are the sorts of pictures I have been seeing recently of the Z1 covers.

Ahh damm, maybe I should try Gtek cover.

To be clear it’s not just the z1 cover that will break, any single stud cover will fail in the same way.

Well ****. He fedexed a new cover and the bell works brace and is back out racing today. I’ll let you know if this one stays in one piece.

Hmm, ok. The Gtek one we have in australia is a dual stud cover.

He made it through the day just fine.

Well just found out the gtek covers have sold out and unlikely to be made again anytime soon.

so.
i have questions about this too.

The pathfinder conversion is a weld in solid connection.
So really no point in running urethane diff bushings with that...right?
might as well go all solid bushings?

the z1 + bell race works. The bell connection is also pretty rigid. Could/should you use it with urethane bushings? (and z1 diff cover)

same goes for the z1 diff brace + cover?
Solid bushings all around?

I just picked up urethane bushings second hand but wondering if i should be using solid if i'm going to run a z1/bell brace.

I have the SPL solid bushing and the Bell brace. I also don't do hole shots.

2x the price of the Z1 cover seems worth it for the GK one. Here in the US, it's more of a 3x price difference, and I couldn't justify swapping over.
The interior walls that the fluid sloshes against are closer to OEM, supposedly better for the diff, and it comes with 2 mounts. You can price in a separate diff brace to get a closer comparison, since that's closer to what the second mounting point is like.

SOHO has a billet diff cover. I don't see it on their website tho.

This is one of the reasons I decided to go with a two-stud cover. I didn't know about the pathfinder cover, but I did know the greddy one would bolt up for the driver's side stud. I just welded in a bushing sleeve for the passenger side and swapped out the bushings for new solid rubber ones.
