Help replacing a wiring harness

So I've made a couple posts about how my Z's charging system has gone bad. I follow the FSM and diagnosed my car and concluded that the connection between the alternator and dash cluster is bad as the "charge warning light" doesn't illuminate. I checked continuity between the terminals the FSM told me to check (alternator connector to combination meter harness connector) and there is none. I even cut the wires connecting to the terminals I needed to check and tested continuity on the raw wire and no continuity either. So now im wondering which harness do I have to change exactly? Is it the dash or the engine wiring?

What you need to do is isolate the short then.

Follow the white wire from the alternator connector to the M116 white connector inside of the car by the ECM if this has continuity from the alt connector to this connector then your issue is in the dash harness.

IF you have continuity in the harness proceed to remove your speedometer and check the alternator light pin in the speedometer and check continuity to the M116 connector.

If your issue is in the dash harness you should see your volt gauge display regular charging voltages. If your volt gauge reads low and you dont your light is not working then it's possible the alternator regulator burnt up not triggering the light and not charging as well.

DUDE OMG. THE M116 CONNECTOR WASNT EVEN CONNECTED. Right now that I went to go check the connection the little lever that's supposed to hold in in place was open and the connector was sticking out halfway. The problem with the charging started when i drove through some curves hard and the lever was probably bad and caused disconnected with the cars leaning. Thank you man :bowrofl::bowrofl::bowrofl:
