most are doing theirs by the standard 3k mark. some earlier. up to you really. the car does not come with synthetic oil
|
Interesting.
Nissan: "We recommend using synthetic oil in this car". Then they ship it out with regular oil. A case of: Do as I say, not as I do. |

As far as the first change... do it whenever. I'd check your oil levels now to see what the burn rate is like and also check the condition of the oil. You may want to change it sooner rather than later. You'll probably have a bit of oil burn for the first several thousand miles. I think I stabilized at little to no burn per 1,000 miles after my second oil change. |

kinda funny. they should put a disclaimer on the Z stating not to offer that service. |

After reading the info on the Nissan Ester oil on bobistheoilguy's site, I can't see anyone using anything other than this oil - especially if you are changing your oil every 3500-4000 miles. A couple of interesting notes from that article: the ester additive is different than the ester based Redline and Amsoil oil and the Hydrogen free DLC coating is a Nissan patent, is expensive, and not available in any other oil. I recommend reading the entire article.

Interesting post under oil nerds info
further up in engine and drivetrain section. It leaves open a number of questions but compares most of the oils discussed here on a regular basis from oil analysis. Some surprising results. Again, we need more study and more vehicles and how they were driven but good data...

Nissan Ester Oil
I use what they recommend. Don't want to ever pay for an engine. But, that's just me.
