2014 7AT TCM and Valve body issues
The valve body and TCM module on my 2014 7AT has gone out, I was quoted around $1000 to fix the issue from the local dealer however I am looking at transmissions I can pull from another 7AT to drop in. Has anyone had experience with this and will the TCM module need to be reflashed since it is working with a new ECU? Or will it be a plug and play deal since it's a been pulled from a running car. If needed I could get a flash done by my tuner for cheap but if I can avoid it then I will. Looking for the cheapest option since the Z is gonna be sold and I will be upgrading to a 6MT and boosting that. Thanks for any help!

Had done this recently. The most reliable way is to ask a dealer to take care of all the things (you should get warranty), but the cost is relatively higher. The cheapest way is to find preused parts and install them. Your tcm should be #M3B 94 110N of part number. I'd suggest asking your dealer to read the software code of your tcm first so that you could find an interchangeable one. Although I haven't seen any incompatible one so far due to the tcm code mismatch but better using a tcm from a 370Z between 2014-2015 in model years. Make sure that the tcm has no oil pressure sensor on it (there should be no oil pressure sensor on the tcms from 2014- 370Zs). Should be plug n play. Don't use a tcm/valve body from G37 or so... There is S mode of them and the torque maps are different from our Z. This will cause additional drivechain loss while your car is performing shifting, even if you find a ECU tuner to tune the line pressure for you. Last but not least, please add a trans cooler if your not using it. **Don't go/trust performance rebuilds anyway. You can go find the tread I posted recently about my user/customer experiences with IPT. |

Yes, there is a sequential Hollinger option. It will be about $25,000 for a manual car to swap over to it. The transmission is not cheap, 19k. I am not sure this is an option for an auto car. Probably not. If you want a manual car, the best option is to just get a different car.

I gave the seller the part number, model year, and software code of my tcm btw, followed by asking them to try matching one up for my car. |

You can ask the seller to send you the pics of the tcm for check before placing an order. |

In July 2019, my flex plate cracked into pieces. A friend and I dropped trans, new fluids and re installed. It ran ok for about 2 weeks and then started shifting funny and getting stuck in 3rd gear. Sometimes wouldn't shift into gear at all. And would just rev as in neutral. A Nissan tech friend of mine mentioned getting a new or reman/used TCM/Valvebody (as they come together) ... So we replaced them both , reinstalled and didn't work (didn't know I'd need reprogrammed) so we put my old TCM on the new valvebody assembly, reinstalled, fresh fluids again... Ran perfect and strong for 3-4 months. Now car will drive, yes drive in neutral. In drive, Reverse it doesn't move at all. Park works as it should and locks it in. So my Nissan friend said in his 8 years of being a tech he's seen the 6M come in all the time for CSC and clutch failures but NEVER a 7A... So I ordered a used trans (36k miles on it) and swapping it in next weekend and reprogramming it. I guess it could of been my TCM since I used my original one on new Valvebody. But not sure it would explain the working perfectly fine for 3-4 months unless the TCM is slowly ruining every valvebody I've put in. Either way, new to me used trans with half the miles of my car going in next weekend, reprogrammed, fresh fluids, fingers crossed. Hopefully you resolved your issues and sorry for thread jacking LOL! |
