Fuel Pump Assembly Broke

2 Attachment(s)
Took off the fuel pump assembly only to find out the reason why the Z wont start... the assembly was literally just hanging off.. is this a common issue where the fuel pump assembly just breaks off??
I drive my car fairly normal, no track.. 09 370z 100k miles

Was wondering if I should try to DIY fix it or just find a replacement fuel pump assembly.

It broke away from the top Hat....you can get a billet Hat from CJM Motorsports & those metal rods will push into the hat & be anchored in by set screws

Normally you would heat those plastic tits up with a heat gun & pull the rods out,,,they have a small nipple on them. I haven’t seen one break off before; unless someone has mishandled it in the past :ugh2:

Others will chime in & help,,,as that bottom piece is a basket for the fuel pump & filter assembly to sit in. It unclips from the housing. There’s a strainer on the bottom of the pump & notice the fuel line does a 180* from the pump....as it pipes back down through a built in paper filter & then up to the top.

Yup, I had the exact same failure. The CJM hat is a nice piece. You do have to cut off the factory wiring harness connector and replace it with one that comes with the hat.

This failure is starting to become more common. phunk is ahead of the curve on this.

Unsure how long the oem paper filter last (before stopping up) others may know. You may be able to install a new one (in tank) without adding a new fuel line & making a return system,,,as the oem internally regulates fuel pressure & uses bypass pressure to work a venturi to pull fuel from the other side of tank...that’s the other hose you will see in tank that crosses over...”Phunk” is the owner of CJM Motorsports & he should be able to answer all questions....but his setup is definitely better than OE

All the OP needs is a CJM top hat.

I appreciate all the referrals from you guys.

Current production runs are bright black with laser white logo. As of 2 weeks ago, the stock type install kit include a swivel bulkhead fitting that can freely spin around (other than when it contacts the plugs of the unused holes). Hoping to update the website to reflect this sooner than later.
